Sophomore: I have attended trinity school for 11 years and plan on graduating from there. It is really easy to make connections with the teachers and they are invested in creating a learning environment that we can thrive in. They offer a lot of opportunities in athletics and academics in order to find what you are interested in. Any time I have had a problem with an assignment, friend, teacher, or even something personal that doesn't involve school, the teachers and administration have always been a great help and are always willing to listen to you and if needed find a solution to make sure that you are in a safe and comfortable environment. The teachers really do care so much about the students and they will always be your number one cheerleader to cheer you on every step of the way of your academic and athletic career. I am extremely grateful for the impressions the tutors of this academy made on me and the ways in which each class taught me to not only value education but to approach life with a genuine interest in absorbing as much as possible and choosing to make every obstacle that one faces a chance to learn and overcome. Senior: Teachers are very professional & are very inspiring to me to continue with the program after trying to drop out many times through my 3 years. They keep me going every day to work and push harder. They never gave up on me and always believed me even when I was at my lowest. They try their best to engage with the students and with having dual credit is very blessed for my area to have an associates degree and a high school diploma at the age of 18. The campus is beautiful and small which I very much like and they provide a lot of food around the campus and lots of supportive resources for students. Alum: New Tech Odessa is a different kind of school, everything from the way students and teachers are addressed to how students handle projects is totally unique to NTO. There you are expected to do more than the average high school student in the state, where you are placed in AP/Dual classes and electives. That is not to say that it is a bad thing, in fact I am glad for it because it taught me that adversity is the greatest teacher and character builder. At NTO you are treated like an adult and given assignments and projects that require your own research, teamwork with others, and the implementation of technology and software to succeed in the curriculum. There are some areas that I think could use some improvement coming from a graduate of the school, I think that they are too stringent regarding specific rules, such as punishing all students by not letting them use the common areas or patio area because freshmen were misusing the bathroom.... Senior: STEM Academy was a great place to choose since my family and myself didn’t want to be involved with ECISD. There was also private school but we mainly didn’t have the money for that so STEM was out best option. This school mainly focuses on what it stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. There are no sports other than the few lessons they give you about different ones in P.E. STEM has you college ready and preparing for adulthood by the 6th grade. Senior: Odessa Collegiate Academy is a place for those willing to go through rigorous courses to save time and money for college. Despite the academically challenging classes, Odessa College and Odessa Collegiate Academy faculty will help you in any way they can. All you have to do is ask and be honest. With smaller class sizes, students have more chances to talk to their teachers/professors one-on-one, allowing students and faculty members to form valuable relationships which are essential for recommendation letters. Odessa Collegiate Academy is also an AVID demonstration site, which means that students are required to learn about financial aid, the college application process, and the necessary skills for university-level courses. Senior: OCTECHS is an early college class. As you are completing your high school degree, you are also earning an associate degree through your chosen program. Because it is a fairly small school, everyone has gotten to know each other. People know the face of everyone in their grade and even a few in other grades. While there I felt a great sense of family. The teachers are very understanding of the workload. They know you are doing high school and college and are there to help you in any way they can. They expect the best out of you. There are many clubs to choose from, many of which are to bring life to the school or for students to enjoy themselves. The clubs are the heart of this campus. One thing I would change is to add sports and music.
