Senior: Lake Ridge Academy is a great school for kids who are looking for a hands-on learning community where teachers become friends and advocates. The small size of the school can be challenging socially (particularly in younger years), but the overall quality of the school experience makes it worthwhile. Best English and History teachers anywhere. School of Fine Arts and Center for Scientific Research offer students a chance to pick their adventure. One of the best features of the school is the large physical campus which includes a greenhouse, a small working farm, outdoor classrooms, woods for an annual Ohio historical re-enactment, soccer fields, tennis courts and more. Class trips each year of high school extend learning opportunities off campus. Very much a community school with active involvement of parents. Senior: I transferred to Elyria Catholic from a public school for my high school years. At first, it was a very big change, and it did take some time to find who I was as a person. Between the smaller class sizes and groups of children from the same Catholic elementary schools, it was a bit difficult to fit in. Although I struggled personally inside and outside of school my freshman year, I ended up meeting some of the most wonderful people. The real reason I switched from public to private was for a better education. Throughout my time here, I became extremely grateful for the education itself, the teachers, administration, and all of the effort they put in. I am and was able to experience so many new things, such as rebuilding my relationship with God. Sure, my relationship with God is still under development, but I have learned so many new things and experienced God through retreats, masses, and many other school activities. Junior: Open Door Christian Schools has given me so many opportunities to meet new people who have the same beliefs as me. I have grown in my faith and have learned more about God. The teachers have always been so encouraging and passionate about their students, as well. They take time to help students when they need extra help or just want to get to know their students better. Senior: I love that the school employs educators that care enough to change their teaching to fit what the students need. The teachers and staff go out of their way to help students and families. They have standards that are meant to be upheld but will work with you if you are struggling or need some lenience in certain situations. The classes are small enough to give that direct communication needed in the classroom, but are large enough to give the students plenty of socialization. Parent: The school provides an advanced and diversified education. My children went from FBCS to public school and were a year ahead of their peers. I moved them back to FBCS for the quality of the education, the opportunity to learn life skills not taught in public schools as well as the Christian based education. Different children have been to Open Door, Oberlin, and Firelands as well as FBCS. FBCS provided the best fit for my family. I have two more to graduate from FBCS and am happy that my grandchildren now attend the school as well. For people with the EdCHoice opportunity, this is a great way to add value to your child's education! My older children have all been successful in college and work careers, and are contributing members in their communities. Alum: Christian Community School is where children can go to be loved, taught in love, and guided into adulthood. Being a graduate of CCS I can say all of this is true. The teachers and staff do everything in their power to teach and care for their students. The education itself is prepping for college. Senior: I attended Albert Einstein Academy (AEA) for 6th-8th grade, 9th-10th grade, and returned in 11th grade. I am now a senior and I am very happy I switched back to AEA. It's a small school but it really makes an effort to touch all its students and make sure everyone feels included. No matter what the color of your skin is, what gender you identify as, your age, or your grades, AEA makes sure you feel welcome and important. With the pandemic, most schools have struggled to find a balance between online and in-person lessons. Thankfully AEA was able to make sure online students and in-person students all received the same lesson at the same time. Albert Einstein Academy is not perfect, but it is the best school for me and I do not regret attending. I defiantly recommend this school for people who want to find themselves or get away from bullies. Its a great escape and will only benefit you in the end.... Read 8 reviews
