Senior: Lake Ridge Academy is a great school for kids who are looking for a hands-on learning community where teachers become friends and advocates. The small size of the school can be challenging socially (particularly in younger years), but the overall quality of the school experience makes it worthwhile. Best English and History teachers anywhere. School of Fine Arts and Center for Scientific Research offer students a chance to pick their adventure. One of the best features of the school is the large physical campus which includes a greenhouse, a small working farm, outdoor classrooms, woods for an annual Ohio historical re-enactment, soccer fields, tennis courts and more. Class trips each year of high school extend learning opportunities off campus. Very much a community school with active involvement of parents. Alum: Magnificat is an amazing school they have a rigorous college preparatory course and show dedication to helping all students grow and learn in every way. The school has top of the line features and state of the art classrooms. Although people are highly critical of the school's lack of diversity, it is ignored that Magnificat is a great community that values quality education. Magnificat gives accessible aid to any student that needs help and gives back to the community in any way possible, the girls who attend there have access to many service projects and outreach events that build up the rocky river to be an amazing community! Senior: I loved attending Saint Joseph Academy. It has been wonderful to attend a school that cares so much about its students! I liked the freedom students were given when selecting classes and during lunchtime to go to club meetings, meet with teachers, and hang out with their friends. Senior: The first thing I want to say about Lutheran West is that I had a fantastic time all four years. The best thing about Lutheran West was that it felt like a family there. Lutheran west is on the smaller side of student bodies at schools, West currently has around 600 kids. It was nice that everyone knew each other and no one felt left out. Growing up in a public school all the way until high school I knew how kids treated other kids, and it was not nicely at all. Also there was almost double the amount of kids so putting a name to everyone's face as impossible. I think the only downside was that sometimes I felt like Lutheran West was money hungry in ways. Such as, if you got your phone taken away it was 5 bucks to get back. Another example is changing a class you do not like, they made you pay 25 bucks just to switch to a different class. If you missed a Saturday dentition it also costed 30-40 bucks. But other than that my experience was one of the best I could've imagined.... Read 85 reviews

Senior: I transferred to Elyria Catholic from a public school for my high school years. At first, it was a very big change, and it did take some time to find who I was as a person. Between the smaller class sizes and groups of children from the same Catholic elementary schools, it was a bit difficult to fit in. Although I struggled personally inside and outside of school my freshman year, I ended up meeting some of the most wonderful people. The real reason I switched from public to private was for a better education. Throughout my time here, I became extremely grateful for the education itself, the teachers, administration, and all of the effort they put in. I am and was able to experience so many new things, such as rebuilding my relationship with God. Sure, my relationship with God is still under development, but I have learned so many new things and experienced God through retreats, masses, and many other school activities. Senior: I love that the school employs educators that care enough to change their teaching to fit what the students need. The teachers and staff go out of their way to help students and families. They have standards that are meant to be upheld but will work with you if you are struggling or need some lenience in certain situations. The classes are small enough to give that direct communication needed in the classroom, but are large enough to give the students plenty of socialization. Alum: I think this is a great high school in all honesty. It offers exciting and interesting courses that no other Cleveland Metropolitan School District school offers. It also offers an associates degree in liberal arts and it does take some effort but the reward in the end is like no other. The teachers are fantastic and are willing to go above and beyond for their students and their experiences. The curriculum is very interesting and engaging. The arts program is especially great. Parent: The school provides an advanced and diversified education. My children went from FBCS to public school and were a year ahead of their peers. I moved them back to FBCS for the quality of the education, the opportunity to learn life skills not taught in public schools as well as the Christian based education. Different children have been to Open Door, Oberlin, and Firelands as well as FBCS. FBCS provided the best fit for my family. I have two more to graduate from FBCS and am happy that my grandchildren now attend the school as well. For people with the EdCHoice opportunity, this is a great way to add value to your child's education! My older children have all been successful in college and work careers, and are contributing members in their communities. Niche User: The very first day turned into an amazing experience, and that made me fall in love with this school. As a black girl from Africa, being around other students who understood me, and would not judge me or ask a lot of questions about my hairstyle was a big relief. Another great thing is that I did not only bound with black students but also various nationalities at the school. I got the chance to learn about other cultures as well. JMIT is amongst those schools in Cleveland, Ohio that requires students to wear uniforms but the uniform policy was not very strong and people usually showed up with regular clothes, putting them on a certain scale compared to those wearing uniforms. Other than that, this is a great school, it was my home, a very safe environment, where students, teachers work together to help students achieve their goals. Senior: I like the experience I've had here but there is room for improvement. The communication between administration and students is not very clear. There is much miscommunication on how we sign up for something like college courses. In my experience email responses took a very long time. Most teachers are great although some teaching styles are not helping get students ready for college. Many classes have strict rules and follow a curriculum. Although they do offer college courses which is great. The courses allow for high school and college credit. The building is very old and could use some updating although it is still in great shape. One thing I would fix is the air conditioning. This is because in certain rooms throughout the temperature differs. I would prefer if the school had more opportunities regarding classes. Senior: I attended Albert Einstein Academy (AEA) for 6th-8th grade, 9th-10th grade, and returned in 11th grade. I am now a senior and I am very happy I switched back to AEA. It's a small school but it really makes an effort to touch all its students and make sure everyone feels included. No matter what the color of your skin is, what gender you identify as, your age, or your grades, AEA makes sure you feel welcome and important. With the pandemic, most schools have struggled to find a balance between online and in-person lessons. Thankfully AEA was able to make sure online students and in-person students all received the same lesson at the same time. Albert Einstein Academy is not perfect, but it is the best school for me and I do not regret attending.
