Niche User: I love the educational aspects of the school. The teachers are great and really work on making it is individual experience for the students. My daughter loves school. The building the school is currently located is run down, but it doesn't seem to impact the quality of education too much. It would be nice to have a cafeteria. Another downside is that the board isn't all that open and seems to try hard to keep things private that should be public. Senior: I transferred into Capital Area School for the Arts my senior year and CASA has been nothing but welcoming. Upon coming to the school I have learned to appreciate art in a way I had never expected all while immersing myself in the practice of theatre. Additionally while the school focuses on the arts they definitely do not skimp on normal school classes. My academic classes all provide me with a wonderful opportunity to learn in an interactive way which helps me retain all the information I learn. CASA also has an amazing close knit school community! Even though I have only met these people this year I feel as if I will be friends with them for the rest of my life. Sophomore: Bishop McDevitt High School is an unfailing and unchanging tight-knit community if you would so choose to indulge in it. The environment is welcoming and students are always demonstrating their kind and well rounded characters. Administration are friendly and helpful, and staff are just as pleasant. College readiness is nothing special, but using the right resources which are offered you may go above and beyond. Alum: I loved the small-school atmosphere and having the ability to get to know all of my classmates. I participated in sports and had so much fun, all the coaches are awesome! The school has an exciting school spirit and is very supportive of all of it's students. I would like to see some of the rules changed, they seemed unnecessary and out to date. Students got in trouble for being caught with their cell phone, but technology is an important part of learning in todays world. Junior: This is my first year at West Shore, and it is quite a culture shock. The class sizes are extremely small, with only six senior girls this year! Conservative values are also highly emphasized here. For its size, West Shore's coursework is highly advanced -- which I love. The teachers are welcoming, and can always assist you because of a low student-to-teacher ratio. Music, art, and other extracurriculars are also surprisingly advanced. I joined the speech and debate team and the talented coaches helped me qualify for the NSDA state championship! The sports teams, frankly, are sub-par because of a limited number of players. However, athletics here is not about "winning;" it is about giving everybody a chance and helping each other grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I joined the soccer team despite having no soccer experience and built valuable relationships within my first few weeks at this school. Parent: My child has been going to Highland Elementary since Kindergarten, and is now in 3rd grade there. The teacher's and the rest of the school staff that my child and / or myself have had to work with ...all have been wonderful. I just wish there were more after school activities for children that are not as athletic as most kids are. More things that have to do with art, building / creating. Yoga for kids, martial arts of sort were all kids of all abilities can benefit from. Also... something like girls on the run.....that isn't restricted to just females being able to join.. so that all kids that might not be good at a sport, but like to run can join. Middle School Student: As a student of The Samuel School, I have grown so much spiritually in the past years that I have been here. The teachers here have shown me what it really means to learn: to learn stuff and remember it for life. While learning at this school, I found that I have a gift in music and that has taken me really far. Another good thing about the school is the fact that if you are struggling with anything, the teachers understand and will try to work it out with you. There are smaller classes which means more one-on-one attention and time with the teachers. Most classes don't even feel like a typical classroom, which helps people learn more and has helped me learn more.
