Parent: When my kids started school something just didn't seem right. At the time, I didn't know what was wrong, I just knew it wasn't right. After several years we looked at Brookfield Academy and learned that the classical liberal arts education and its teaching of grammar, Latin, Western Civilization coupled with BA's focus on freedom, Singapore Math, economics and its five stars that help develop good character in well-rounded individuals, is what was missing. We switched schools and the kids never looked back. Through their years at BA each child discovered passions in academics, Certamen, fencing, chess, art, and theater in addition to more common sports and clubs. In college now, they are well-prepared beyond their peers in academic foundation, resourcefulness, comfort in speaking directly with professors (thanks to the amazing teachers at BA and their desire to know their students), and have a broad range of knowledge that will serve them in any study they choose. Senior: Brookfield Central High School had been my home for the past four years and it has shaped me in many important ways. One of the fundamental values of this school is to be welcoming to all. Although in full honesty, the diversity rates are not amazing, I believe it to be a welcoming environment where everyone is provided the opportunity to succeed. There are many clubs that are open to anyone and everyone where you can pursue whatever interests you have. Most programs receive funding, however, it is not distributed equally. I personally have been a member of the BC Bands for all four years and I can attest that it has sufficient funding, but nothing in comparison to many of the sports teams. In the future, I'd like to see the district invest money into building a performance center where both the theater and the music departments can practice and improve in a more concert-like environment.... Parent: Planned on sending just one child this year but ultimately transferred all of our kids after touring as they all asked to switch! All of our children feel accepted and free to be themselves, and quickly formed wonderful friendships as the community is kind and supportive. Teachers know who each student is as a person and are always willing to engage in conversations about how the kids are faring - a total 180 from our old district. Amazing fine arts curriculum in all grades and the sports programs are fun, low key and enjoyed by most of the students - a plus for us as our children do not enjoy hyper-competitive sports but still like to play. The academics are also much stronger than our old schools and our kids are THE MOST confident in themselves and their abilities as I have ever seen them. It is an excellent model of just how important reciprocal interpersonal respect is for everyone and how great school can be when the focus is actually on kindness and learning and having fun.... Middle School Student: The education I got there was great, it prepared me very well for high school. The teachers were amazing and very caring. Parent: CMH has gone above and beyond during this pandemic by providing an excellent college prep experience while strictly following all COVID-19 safety parameters. I am very happy with the level of responsiveness by teachers and administrators at this school. While many students in our state have literally missed a year of school, CMH students have been able to study in person, meet with friends, and participate in athletics, arts, and worship. When I decided to send my daughter to CMH, I was a little hesitant because of the money, but I now can confirm that this is money well spent! Many public school parents who have had to watch their children rot at home with no athletic opportunities and canned online lessons, will most likely be paying money down the line to alleviate the inevitable psychological problems this pandemic will cause our state's children.... Senior: The High School of Health Sciences gives students many opportunities relating to STEM. They have partnerships with many organizations that help students figure out their post-high school plans. The High School of Health Sciences allowed me to take a CNA class through WCTC. Alum: Dominican was the perfect high school for me. Dominican lives out the Sinsinawa Dominican values of preaching, community, partnership, and justice, instilling these values in the students who attend. A Catholic culture is ever-present, although the student body is about 60% Catholic. In my experience at Dominican, I was able to have friends from diverse backgrounds and experiences which was really enriching and unique for most schools in the Milwaukee area--reflecting the demographic of the part of the city they live in. Going to Dominican High School is the best decision I have made for myself thus far. They have set me up for success in college by helping me every step of the way, whether I needed them to walk me through things step-by-step or needed to work alone. Alum: I am a recent graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran class of '21 and I had the best times at Wisco! Going into high school I played volleyball and basketball along with being involved in everything music. I loved my time at Wisco because of the different opportunities I was given through the classes and extra curricular clubs and sports we had. My favorite thing however, is how diverse Wisco is. I went to school with kids from a variety of different backgrounds. We had over 10 countries apart of our student body along with other cultures and ethnicities. Senior: To be fairly honest, it's a great school! I came from a not so nice district, and this is 100% an improvement. All my teachers here cared about me and it's such a great place to meet people. I do wish we were a little more diverse, and coaches of sports weren't so mean. It's a highly Caucasian area, so it's no doubt the school is of high Caucasian ethnicity. Middle School Student: I have been attending this school for nearly 11 years (I started when I was 3), and honestly my experience has been pretty good. The teachers are really good, and it is a very hands on learning experience. The classes are small so your child will not slip through the cracks and they will always be given a chance to succeed. However diversity could be better, if that's something you care about, the majority of the student population is white and if you're a person of color at this school, you might be the only person of color in your class. Senior: Overall, this highschool offered a great educational experience throughout my six years of attending (highschool + middle school takes 6 years.) The teachers and administration were very flexible with me and my friends' needs. If there was a problem with my scheduling or a problem with one of the school's facilities, the administration's offices were always open and the teachers were always willing to stay with me a bit after school to go over anything that I needed extra help on. The only negative point that I believe is worth mentioning would be that the internet service provided at the school was not always fast enough to support the entire school worth of users, and it was a bit difficult to complete certain activities when the internet went down.
