There is such a level of comfort knowing that my three children are getting a great education and learning in a way that will set them up for success in the future. Senior: "Welcome! You belong here! Happy orientation!" shouted countless members of the high school Link Crew as I walked under the 2021 Freshman Orientation signs leading to the school gym. With music blasting, balloons floating, and faces smiling, my first day of high school started to feel less scary. From that very first step, I was welcomed into the Mt. Lebanon High School family and community. My High School creates a strong sense of home through its compassionate teachers, social clubs, inspiring Arts program, and more. Middle School Student: As a current eighth grader, I would say my experience isn't too bad. School is divided into two "teams" for each grade, with their own separate teachers. This can cause anxiety for students hoping that they will be placed on the same team as their friends. It's not really diverse, as many of the kids are upper-middle class white folks. I remember when I came to one of the elementary schools here from a school in the city, I was surprised to see a classroom full of white children (including myself). Despite this, noone at this school makes hateful remarks, and treats every race with respect. My favorite teachers are Kevin McCann (8th grade Iron Brigade conceptual physics teacher), Susan McDonald (7th grade Eagles history teacher), and Phil Hessler (art teacher). Julie Snyder (Tech Ed. teacher) and Jeff Holliday (8th grade Iron Brigade history teacher) leave a lot to be desired.... Read 2 reviews

Parent: We recently moved to the district and Jefferson Elementary couldn't have done more to make our family feel welcome. The principal met with our kids before school even started and gave us all a personal tour for over an hour. Their buddy-system for new students gave each of my kids a friend before school even started, so the kids were excited for their first day of school and had someone to show them around and sit with. Their guidance counselors, music teachers (they have THREE types of music!), foreign language teachers, and primary teachers have all been best-in-class. Parent: Washington Elementary is impressive. What my son and I first felt was how kind the students and teachers were here. His teachers made an extra effort to make him feel welcomed. The students befriended him right away and included him in their social networks. My son noticed that kids are well behaved and the teachers rarely get after the students. Kids just do what they are expected to do. Disciple is just not an issue. Academics are challenging but students are met at their level and the environment is enriching, warm, and supportive. He got extra help in his weaker subjects and challenged in stronger subjects. Teachers are very responsive to my concerns or questions and will go out of their way to address any issues. School safety is of top priority. No one gets past the outside doors unless they are positively identified. They are truly safer there then at home! Niche User: Pittsburgh Central Catholic is a highly esteemed institution that turns young boys into men and is well worth the investment. Although it is a steep tuition the lessons a young man will learn from the brotherhood simply cannot be matched. Along with the lifelong relationships you will make at Central Catholic they provide an education that is undoubtedly one of the best in the sate and maybe the country. It truly exemplifies what a 'college prep' high school should be like. Junior: I moved to Oakland Catholic sophomore year. I went to a school before that really did not match my needs. I knew someone from middle school that transferred here for high school. I always knew about the school, but never imagined myself there. I brought up the idea to my parents and they were hesitant. After months and months of conversation regarding the subject, they agreed to let me tour it. I still remember the day I toured, I was so nervous but pleasantly surprised by this environment. After the tour, I begged my parents even more to let me go. And my last day of freshman year my parents told me that I could go if I followed a list of rules they had for me. I've been here ever since and it has been an amazing journey. I've made friends I know I will have for life and amazing experiences and opportunities that not all girls are lucky enough to have. Parent: Moving from TX to PA, our biggest concern was finding a good high school for our son. After visiting multiple schools in the area, we applied to OLSH and are so glad we did. Our son is doing very well there, his academic performance is much better than in public school, where he commented on the continuous disruptions and lack of order in the classroom. We like that the school shares the Christian values we want for our son, without being overbearing. Everyone we've dealt with has been very supportive and helpful. The academic course load challenges without being a grind. The school has that "Ivy-league" look to it, attractive tree-shaded grounds situated at the top of a hill, a fantastic chapel, inviting library. OLSH seems to be a great springboard to a quality university. Senior: Eden Christian Academy is located in Pittsburgh, PA. In terms of academics, it can be challenging, but it prepares you for what is demanded from college students. Sophomore: I have attended Hillcrest Christian Academy since my sixth grade year and plan to continue throughout my high school years. The school is equipped with plenty of classrooms and space for students; the facility is beautiful. The high school has recently added classes from Geneva College that eleventh and twelfth grade students can take to receive college credit, wonderfully equipping students for a bright future. The teachers are kind, caring, personal, engaging, and a positive influence on the students at Hillcrest. Senior: My experience at Nazareth Prep has been great. I’ve been a student here since my 11th grade year. They have taught me so much compared to my other high school, Trinity Christian. Nazareth Prep gives all of their students internships. My internship this year is at Children’s Hospital. I am able to shadow different departments and learn more about the medical field.
