Parent: Both of my sons started FSS in Pre K and they are now in Middle School. We LOVE FSS - the school is truly a second family to my whole family. The Community is so warm and welcoming - we feel lucky to be a part of it. The teachers and the administration care so much about each and every student. Kids thrive at FSS; school encourages their strengths and helps with their weaknesses, all while making students feel good about themselves and their learning process. Teachers are easily accessible to parents and students alike to discuss anything. Academics and arts are top notch, as well as the social and emotional care of all students. We also love how FSS takes full advantage of Philadelphia’s resources, whether it be its museums, Universities, parks or anywhere! I wish I could have been a student in this school environment!... Senior: Moorestown Friends is as advertised, inspiring kids to perform academically, to pursue interdisciplinary study, and to break the mold of a student fitting a single archetype. It's a place where most are committed to producing results: the girl at the top of the class is also a double varsity athlete, AP art student, etc. MFS does a great job of creating a culture that rewards success. However, it can be exhausting. MFS can be difficult for high-achievers experiencing burnout. One thing I will say is that the emotional strain placed on a student to perform may impact their mental health. It can be exhausting to perform out of fear of failure, and the mental health resources are a tad subpar. Our school counselor is a wonderful woman, but ultimately it comes down to "I-know-you're-depressed-but-your-grades-are-good-so-stick-it-out!" Alum: I have come to realize that Cherry Hill High School East (known colloquially as "East") has possibly offered me one of the best public educations in the state of New Jersey. Alumni of East often assert that college is easier than East. I generally find this claim to be true to my experience. Though the teachers are hit or miss, the honors courses are rigorous and their respective teachers are dedicated. I often found myself spending lunch in the classroom of a teacher offering help. The classes are often reading and writing intensive. The school is also incredibly diverse. On the other side of the coin, there exists a culture of grievance among the students, and the school has plenty of room to improve. Classes start dreadfully early and buses pick students up for school even earlier. The building itself needs repairs. Parent: All 3 of my children have had the privileged of starting their academic life in this school. The teachers and staff are amazing - helpful, kind, smart, resourceful, creative and loving. They respond so positively to not only their student but the parents as well. Because the student-to-teacher ratio is low, there is more individualized learning opportunities. Those students that need more guidance AND those that need more academic challenges are both given equal attention. Alum: The really felt the proper "step up" when I transitioned from elementary school to middle school (Beck). I mean this in the way that the course work and material was of greater rigor, intensity, and demand, while still providing quality methods of teaching. The environment felt independent, like being a bit more "on your own", in a sense, derived from the switching between classes and knowing where you had to be when you had to be. Naturally, I've had a few classes with teachers that weren't to my preference of style, but more importantly I've had many great classes because of the great teachers. The facilities are second-rate (e.g. the bathrooms have beaten down stall doors and writing all over, the chrome of the sinks is dingy and the sinks leak, etc.). Senior: Holy Cross Preparatory Academy High School was my first high school choice because of its kind, helpful, supportive, well-educated teachers, facility, and staff along with its similarity to a college classroom experience and scheduling. The students' interactions among the teachers, facility, staff, and with each other are super special because everyone is so supportive of each other and helpful. We are family. When I arrive at Holy Cross each morning and leave each afternoon, I know I am in a safe and secure environment. Overall, being a Senior in fall 2021, I know I am going to have an amazing experience despite the rules and measures set in the school because of COVID-19. I like the block scheduling that Holy Cross has because you have only four classes at a time which brings less stress upon me. Niche User: If I had known about Life Center Academy sooner, both of our kids would have attended it instead of another "Christian" school. The administration and staff really treat it as a ministry so the Jesus factor is tenfold any other school we encountered since moving to South Jersey. The teachers are amazing in their care for the students and not just academically, they go way out of their way to help the kids. The sports facilities are the best in SJ and the coaches are all men and women of God, not just coaches. Alum: Paul VI is a great school the education is great and the administration is incredibly helpful especially when collage application time came around. I took Ap and honors classes and I feel that those programs really gave a great education to students and were very helpful in my college experience. I was able to earn college credits through dual enrollment and will be able to graduate a semester early because of that. My ap English classes were especially great. I loved my teachers and English was my favorite class. I rated my overall school experience 4 stars because high school is difficult and I do feel that the education for non honors and ap classes is lower quality. Senior: I love all aspects about Roman Catholic High School, this school is a extremely diverse school it is also very welcoming. This school has expanded over the years and will continue to expand drastically over the next few years. These new expansions will bring new areas for students too explore and will withhold new classrooms and even a gym! The only problem i have with Roman Catholic High School is the lunch that is served during lunch. The lunch is expensive and it does not taste good. When choosing a food to eat there's no variety to choose from its just basic American cuisine that is served there. While it is not the cleanest school in the world, it gives off a warm and inviting feeling that excites me to go back every day.
