Parent: best school in the area! Nothing compares. They have an amazing AIG program that is constantly offering options to children that are advanced. They also have amazing methods for children that have a little extra energy. The art and music teachers are far more advanced than I expected. Safety was never a concern, their facility is constantly locked, surveillance in place, immediate contact from front office to each classroom, and executive leaders are regularly visiting the classes. The police department, ems, and fire department visit the kids regularly. They have 2 teachers per class and only 15-17 students. The teachers are all on the same page at every grade with the same approach to redirecting children, academic and social growth. Tiller provided an amazing opportunity to slightly disabled children by not segregating them to a special class. The PTSO at Tiller was exceptional! Parent: MCPS is amazing! We are very blessed to have the teachers and admin that we have at this school. Not only do we feel like our daughter is in an environment where she can learn and excel, but we also feel she is safe. All of the staff at MCPS are very knowledgeable and take all necessary precautions to keep them safe. From the car line where there is already a teacher directing us through and watching the kids exit the vehicles, I often see the principal and assistant principal standing on the steps watching over the parking lot and areas where kids are being dropped off. Junior: I like the school a lot! Our choir is ranked among the best in the state and our sports have topped conferences! The academics are pretty good, there are a lot of opportunities to advance and fights and bullying are uncommon. There's a bit of a drug problem, but other than that I love the school and the teachers! The staff is always so helpful and friendly, and the admin want to be involved with the students!... Alum: I went to White Oak from kindergarten to 5th grade (2010-2016). While I was there, most the teachers I had, truly cared about getting me on track for a good education at all times, and would do their best to support and reach out to me in class. As well as reaching out to my parents to talk about when I was struggling to find solutions. Of course, I was a child when I went and I’m sure a lot has changed, but White Oak had lots of engaging opportunities. Earth club is the most memorable to me. Beyond that classes could learn and take part by doing class composting and incubating chicken eggs. I also remember reading buddies, a 5th grade class would come to a 1st grade class and help with reading and even make games about trivia we were learning. My biggest comment is that it wasn't a super diverse school, I wish we had been enriched in more, like learning about other cultures’ holidays and celebrate more of that diversity. Senior: West Carteret is the largest high school in the county and a formidable opponent in sports and marching band. There are great teachers and the environment is relatively friendly. A lot of variety in classes are available, and there are plenty of clubs and extracurriculars to get involved in! I would say I got a pretty good experience out of the school and was able to craft my resume and portfolio using activities to get accepted into good colleges. I took a lot of AP classes and passed all my exams because the teachers were great! It's a little lacking in diversity, but that's because of the location in a small town. The location is convenient and not too far from the other schools in the city. I felt safe and welcomed at the school and would recommend trying to be in West Carteret's school district over East Carteret or Croatan.... Read 217 reviews

Freshman: My name is Lucy Ramey, I'm a fifteen-year-old freshman student at East Carteret Highschool in Beaufort, North Carolina. So far as a freshman I have had a wonderful experience at this high school, though I can't compare it to anywhere else I feel like I have been pretty lucky. I haven't had any serious issues with the teachers, staff, or student body, and am very grateful. We have classes with great learning opportunities and career readiness experiences. It could help to have more diversity in our school body, being that the majority of students are white/caucasian but other than that there is not much that I can think of to change. It would be wonderful if our school could afford to have a larger budget to afford some more resources for our student body but I feel that overall we do well. There are great college and career readiness programs here with visitors coming to speak with students on topics, and also field trips for the students to take to colleges or specific job sites.... Alum: Gramercy is not like a lot of these reviews have said. I went to gramercy k-12. Gramercy has gone through many changes the past 5 years with hiring new teachers, adding facilities, changing curriculum, and hiring new admin. Like all schools, Gramercy has flaws. When you put your kid in this school you get the Christian School experience. All of the teachers and Admin love the students and make effort to be around. Teachers and admin are out almost every sports game supporting their students. The kids make posters to support their teachers and fellow classmates during games, or teacher appreciation week. The overall school is so sweet and it makes the most of what they have. When I read the review I was so sad because I think Gramercy is the best thing to happen to me. It made me love God. Senior: Because of the opportunity to dual enroll I was able to understand that college was an option for me, I would not have qualified for AP classes at the traditional High School and because of that fact I believe I was not smart enough for college. I currently have a 3.8 GPA in college courses and now am planning to attend college to become a veterinarian. This school was also able to assist my brother with trade school training he is now employed making $21.00 per hour.
