Parent: Providence Academy is a school like no other! When we chose to send our daughter there for kindergarten, we knew it was a special place. Now that we are almost at the end of the school year, it is hard to put into words just how special it is! The love, faith, virtues, and knowledge that are poured into the children sets Providence apart. Our daughter has learned so much academically, and even more importantly, she has learned to go to Jesus first and has felt loved and supported by her teachers every day. She genuinely loves going to school, and even in light of distance learning this year, she continues to thrive and smiles every time she "sees" her teacher and classmates in their daily meetings. Middle School Student: It has been really hard with the distance learning. This is a hard experience for all of us with the covid 19. My son is in the all the gifted classes they offer and he is just thrilled to be learning 6th and 7th grade in the 5th grade. Parent: Teachers are great, my kids got a solid elementary school education. The 16:1 ratio is not at all accurate. Maybe overall staff/student but classroom sizes are roughly 20:1 in kindergarten to about 25:1 in 3rd grade. Very stuck in the past though- Santa still comes at Christmas and there is very, very little diversity. Parents are largely conservative and some are overly involved. From the Kindergarten round up over a year ago, before my daughter even attended, until now, it has been positive. Senior: Overall this school is very good. On the academic side, it is very good with teachers who actually care about what they teach and the students they are teaching. The Biblical teaching here is also very good. It is definitely not in your face like many Christian schools are stereotyped, but taught in a way that is meaning full and helpful to guide students toward a lifelong relationship with God. Although the environment is good, it is a much smaller school than your average school, but that is not a bad thing. The activities here are limited, but overall enjoyable experience. Sports are average at this school, but they have definitely shown upside these past few years, and with a new expansion on the way, they will make leaps towards more championships. Junior: Chesterton is the best! Regarding academics, I find school to be challenging but super enjoyable. We have normal classes like math and lit, but there's also a big focus on the arts and such. Many of our classes are discussion-based, and the ones that aren't still end up in important conversations. The teachers are great at explaining whatever you need (especially random/off-topic questions/philosophical problems). They definitely like to pile on the homework, though! Regarding the community: practically everybody, from the staff to the students, is Catholic, and discussions about the faith seep into just about everything. We have daily mass (epic!) with confession available after, theology class, grade-level retreats, the Handmaids next door, and the adoration chapel and church to pray in before, during, or after school. The small class sizes mean that students are closer to each other and more welcoming to new students. This makes it so much easier to find virtuous, lasting friends.... Read 23 reviews

Parent: We spent K-2nd in Wayzata schools and pulled our children this year to Fourth Baptist. These are the three biggest differences I’ve noticed: 1. Fourth Baptist focuses on learning phonics, sounds, blending. Wayzata was all about sight words and my son quickly fell behind in reading. 2. Academic rigor. Between weekly spelling words, vocabulary, cursive starting in 1st grade, memorization and reciting in front of peers (to build public speaking skills), book reports, and homework, the academic rigor is more challenging than our Wayzata experience. 3. Transparency. I get a folder home weekly of my kids work. Anywhere between 15-20 pages of Math, history, science, spelling tests, reading comprehension tests, etc. Everything is percentage graded, so I know exactly how my children are doing academically. 4. Senior: As a senior at Delano High School, I really loved the connections that I was able make with all of the teachers. They all did their best to really connect with students, and they were easily accessible if extra help was needed. The school in itself provides kids with different opportunities, and has many different activities and extracurriculars available. With this being said, there is very little diversity within the school and the surrounding community which is definitely a downside. Parent: My three children graduated from West Lutheran High School in 2017, 2019 and 2021. They excelled academically and benefited from individual attention when needed due to the low teacher to student ratio. I can confidently confirm that they were more than ready for the rigors of college. While at West Lutheran they also had the opportunity to explore and experience the many and varied extra curricular activities. Being involved in multiple sports, national honor society, drama, choir and band enabled them to grow in confidence, leadership and team building skills. I am sure they would have loved to be involved in the newly launched STEM program, state champion bass fishing club, and successful robotics team! As a parent I appreciated the family atmosphere of the school. Direct access to faculty - even after hours - was a huge plus. All of my children found life long friends - either older or younger. Senior: I overall really liked my time at Waconia High School. I will definitely be proud to say that I graduated at Waconia. This is due to the great teachers, food, and school spirit. I can proudly say that all the teachers that I had at my time at Waconia pushed me and wanted to see me succeed. I formed great teacher-student connections with a lot of my teachers. The back-bone of any school is their lunches and I can confidently say that Café 110 kept me coming back for more. Their food is amazing and the staff is even better in how nice they are while serving the food. With all this the school culture at Waconia is amazing. Everyone is proud to say they are a Wildcat and this can be felt all around the school. Everyone is always happy and supports one and another in their schooling and in their future endeavors. Senior: My overall experience at Mayer Lutheran has been good; I have acquired a solid education, am part of a reliable community, and have access to several academic and extracurricular opportunities. However, if I could make any changes, I would recommend that Mayer Lutheran put more emphasis on art-based extracurricular activities such as studio art, theatre, band, and dance. Senior: Even though Watertown is a small school and we definitely poke fun at it a bit, I truly could not imagine going to high school anywhere else. All of the teachers are great at creating personal connections with their students and helping us each thrive in our own way. They are supportive of us both in and out of the school building. Watertown offers a great variety of courses and is great at helping you find what classes are best for you. They put a lot of hard work and dedication into their sports and activities. I would like to see a bit more recognition equality for the activities however, as sometimes the sports seem to take over a bit. As a small school, it was easy to know pretty much everyone in every grade throughout these past years.
