Parent: When my kids started school something just didn't seem right. At the time, I didn't know what was wrong, I just knew it wasn't right. After several years we looked at Brookfield Academy and learned that the classical liberal arts education and its teaching of grammar, Latin, Western Civilization coupled with BA's focus on freedom, Singapore Math, economics and its five stars that help develop good character in well-rounded individuals, is what was missing. We switched schools and the kids never looked back. Through their years at BA each child discovered passions in academics, Certamen, fencing, chess, art, and theater in addition to more common sports and clubs. In college now, they are well-prepared beyond their peers in academic foundation, resourcefulness, comfort in speaking directly with professors (thanks to the amazing teachers at BA and their desire to know their students), and have a broad range of knowledge that will serve them in any study they choose. Parent: CMH has gone above and beyond during this pandemic by providing an excellent college prep experience while strictly following all COVID-19 safety parameters. I am very happy with the level of responsiveness by teachers and administrators at this school. While many students in our state have literally missed a year of school, CMH students have been able to study in person, meet with friends, and participate in athletics, arts, and worship. When I decided to send my daughter to CMH, I was a little hesitant because of the money, but I now can confirm that this is money well spent! Many public school parents who have had to watch their children rot at home with no athletic opportunities and canned online lessons, will most likely be paying money down the line to alleviate the inevitable psychological problems this pandemic will cause our state's children.... Alum: Dominican was the perfect high school for me. Dominican lives out the Sinsinawa Dominican values of preaching, community, partnership, and justice, instilling these values in the students who attend. A Catholic culture is ever-present, although the student body is about 60% Catholic. In my experience at Dominican, I was able to have friends from diverse backgrounds and experiences which was really enriching and unique for most schools in the Milwaukee area--reflecting the demographic of the part of the city they live in. Going to Dominican High School is the best decision I have made for myself thus far. They have set me up for success in college by helping me every step of the way, whether I needed them to walk me through things step-by-step or needed to work alone. Alum: I am a recent graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran class of '21 and I had the best times at Wisco! Going into high school I played volleyball and basketball along with being involved in everything music. I loved my time at Wisco because of the different opportunities I was given through the classes and extra curricular clubs and sports we had. My favorite thing however, is how diverse Wisco is. I went to school with kids from a variety of different backgrounds. We had over 10 countries apart of our student body along with other cultures and ethnicities. I learned how to interact with people who come from a very different background and lifestyle than I did and I learned how to live side by side with them and stick up for them when the world tears them apart. Middle School Student: I have been attending this school for nearly 11 years (I started when I was 3), and honestly my experience has been pretty good. The teachers are really good, and it is a very hands on learning experience. The classes are small so your child will not slip through the cracks and they will always be given a chance to succeed. However diversity could be better, if that's something you care about, the majority of the student population is white and if you're a person of color at this school, you might be the only person of color in your class. Alum: As far as academics, this school is great. DO NOT ATTEND if you cannot handle hard classes. This school is known for excelling in academic categories. I personally liked the school, and did very well in it. Sports however, are not all that great. Another thing, the school culture here is not that good. Depending what academic program you choose your junior year, people will look at you different. I went full IB, so people automatically think youre super smart and want to go to college. However, if you choose Course Certificate, people will think you don't want to go to college or that you are not smart because you chose not to take the IB exams at the end of the term. Senior: This school is one of the best private schools you can attend in Wisconsin. Every Wednesday is an early release day where students leave the school at 1:10 and head home. The teachers in this school allow you to get the best learning experience by thoroughly explaining topics and assignments. As long as you do your work, you won't have piles of work to get done. For every assignment you will get a due date that will be at least 2 days or longer depending on the teacher and the class. You wont have homework that is due a day after getting it and it gives students more time to get their work done. Another thing that is so great about this school is the lunches. The lunches are great! You can either pay for the lunches with lunch money or bring a home lunch. The school consists of more than 12 clubs and is one of the best schools in Wisconsin for athletics and sports. Alum: Trinity Academy truly prepares students for success at the college level. Trinity gives students a strong foundation in essay writing. Many Trinity teachers test in the college style with short answer and essay formats. Most of the middle and high school teachers have doctorates in their respective fields. They are also extremely supportive of their students. Although Trinity is small, its opportunities for leadership and student involvement are plentiful. However, students do need to take the initiative to be involved. Many students play three-season athletics, found clubs, organize fundraisers, act in theatrical productions, etc. Finally, the faith life at Trinity is incredible. Junior: My family is Christian and my parents truly value Christian education. Heritage teaches all classes from a Christian perspective while also giving insight on other views and teaches you how to ask good questions about your faith. Heritage is rather small compared to other schools and when I first started attending, I didn’t feel as though I quite fit. It took time for me to adjust, but then again none of the other new students seemed to have this problem so it could just be me. I joined student council to help change the atmosphere of the school and grow school spirit, I feel that I have. I have started many new events and feel that school at class spirit are at a new high. It was a rough start for me as the new kid at Heritage, but I now see Heritage as my home away from home and have made many lifelong friends.
