Senior: Annie Wright has been such an amazing institution to study at for my high school career. As a full IB Diploma student, I found the courses challenging, thought-provoking, and fascinating! The small community and class sizes are very beneficial to creating the best learning environment. Additionally, community events and traditions build long-lasting connections and memories that you can carry with you through life. Lastly, as a 5-day boarding student, I can confidently say that the dorms added so much to my high school experience, being able to live with your friends across the grade levels.... Senior: Bellarmine has given me many opportunities I otherwise wouldn't have had at any other school. Despite this, I'm not certain it has been worth the cost. Bellarmine's course catalog is decent, with a fair selection of AP and honors classes. Some important courses are missing, like AP Bio and AP Euro, but altogether a decent selection. Its true strength lies in its co-curricular programs: Model UN, Robotics, and Marine Chemistry. Model UN and Robotics can be had at other schools, but Marine Chem is unique to Bellarmine. The opportunity it provides for high schoolers to get involved in real research is unparalleled, and has opened so many doors for me. Bellarmine's Junior Encounter is fantastic and actually changed my life. Go on Encounter! One more thing: the teachers are a mixed bag. I've had some fantastic teachers during my time here, especially in the English and History departments and others who are either lazy or downright cruel, though COVID was likely the cause of this.... Parent: CCS actively seeks to achieve their goals and holds students accountable. They are welcoming to new students and families. The teachers and staff are warm, caring Christian people. There is an atmosphere of joy and excellence. We are very happy we chose CCS for our daughter as she transitioned from elementary to junior high. They offer honors classes and advanced math in junior high which provides the challenge our student needed. In addition they have recently started a resource program to help students who need extra support in their education. Parent: My kids love PCA. The staff mixes the right amt. of fun with challenging wrk for the students. K-3 rd grade academics are developmentally appropriate and 4th - 12 grade is academically rigorous. The curriculum is well- balanced. You can go online to check your kids' grades and attendance daily. The school has Student Academic Services to help meet students' needs. On-campus tutoring is available. B4 & Aftercare, music lessons, Chess, STEAM classes, soccer, volleyball, and basketball (both played on an NCAA rated floor) are available. The school has the AR reader program, Spanish, Technology, Art, PE (high school athletes have an exercise gym). Hot lunch + salad bar. Bullying isn't tolerated!. Students are given instructions on what to do if they encounter bullying. PCA has an International Student Program. Parent: Life Christian Academy was where I went to school and I was more than prepared for college as well as poured into by the staff and teachers over 20+ years ago, now my children attend and it has only gotten better! More extracurricular activities, more technology, more sports more outreaches, and the list keeps going. While this school is a major financial investment, it is the best we have ever made. My children’s academic, and spiritual growth is of the utmost importance to this school. Parent: My son has done so well at Summit Olympus! As a child that struggles with learning, the smaller class sizes and specialized learning experience has made such a difference in him. He has been able to access extra help after school, and the teachers really encourage him to be self motivated and responsible for his academic success. I was especially impressed with how quickly the school had the learning platform up and ready, and the teachers learned how to use online teaching methods when the school shut down for COVID-19! My student was down a couple of days of learning, while most schools were down weeks to even months before they were really up and running. Freshman: I have been at Tacoma Baptist since pre-kindergarten, and I never want to leave. Everyone here is like a family. The teachers will check in on you if you're having a bad day, and my classmates are all super close. There is a comfortable, Biblically based culture at TBS. People who are newer to the school often comment on how kind everyone is, and how our community is so much better than their previous schools. We are taught by amazing teachers who are super knowledgable, but also fun, kind, and caring. The small classes, while maybe limiting clubs or elective options, allow for positive learning and good connections with classmates and other students. Additionally, because it is a small school, many people use multiple talents, instead of having to choose one. a Drama kid could also choose to do art, basketball, volleyball, Spanish, and track, all in one year (although these aren't the only options). Parent: Our daughter is finishing her freshman year. First child at ELHS. We are thrilled with the level of Christ-center education and overall learning. There are ample sports available and being a smaller school, the ability to participate is excellent at every skill level. The staff is terrific and it's a great campus for the smaller student body to expand into over time. There are pros/cons to big public vs small private. I went to a huge public (Puyallup HS) and Evergreen is a much better Christian environment with tougher academics for my children. We intend to have both children graduate from ELHS. Sophomore: What I like about Federal Way Public Academy (FWPA) the most is that their education system is different than other schools. Their education system offers a great learning experience for students. The teachers have a high expectation of students when it comes to discipline, participation, and knowing the material well. I also admire that they perfectly balance academic life to normal life because every year we host great celebrations, parties and talent shows. After school, I love that there are a variety of clubs to choose from but the best thing FWPA has to offer is Camp. From 6-10 grade, we and our teachers go to remote places in Washington to do a bunch of activities like hiking, playing games, and hanging around the bonfire. During the bonfire, we usually talk about confessions, our feelings, and what we appreciate. Senior: Covenant is an excellent choice for a college preparing, God honoring, and community based school. Parent: Seabury is one of the very few schools in our area that can accommodate children with unique gifts and talents. Small class sizes, individualized approach to education, a wide variety of activities and learning methods, and most importantly, strict safety policies during a pandemic made this school our first choice for Pre-K and Kindergarten years. There are many reasons why we are glad to have our child at Seabury, some of the most important ones for us are: Opportunity to socialize in a safe environment, where the school staff is able to teach kindness and compassion. Teachers recognizing gifts and areas of improvement for our child, and nourishing those in a way that gives the child a solid baseline and ability to grow in their gifts. Parent: I can’t say enough about Holy Trinity! We are so blessed to be able to send our kids to a Christian private school that values education both academically and spiritually. Both of our kids started in Kindergarten and will finish out 8th grade at HTLC. Because the school is smaller it truly feels like family. I am also grateful for all the opportunities provided! My kids have been able to have so many great experiences including summiting Mt Saint Helena (7/8th grade class trip).
