Senior: I liked the freedom that I had at my high school, but I do not like the intended changes they are making in the upcoming school year in the Fall of 2021. Mat-Su Career and Tech Educational High School is a high school intended to prepare students for college or education after high school. You have to apply and be interviewed to get in, but recently they have made the decision to make the application process a lottery style. Instead of choosing who gets in based upon their grades, drive, and attitude, students will only have to submit an application to be entered into the lottery. A random sample of students will get in to the school instead of the students being handpicked. I do not agree that they are changing this because I believe the students who worked hard to get into this high school should be rewarded for their hard work.
