Parent: L&N STEM Academy is a unique experience academically, socially, and with the extra-curricular activities that are offered as compared to other Knox County schools. The campus is very unique as it is in a beautiful historic building and in downtown Knoxville. There are some amazing teachers, admin, and staff at this school. We have had both ups and downs with the school (both in dealing with administration and with teachers), but overall have been very pleased with the education and experiences that our children have had at L&N. The extra-curricular activities include a rowing team, Ultimate frisbee, bowling, rock climbing and more traditional sports such as tennis, swimming, and cross country. There are also academic clubs/activities such as NHS, NAHS, Quiz Bowl, Science Olympiad, and Model UN. Wouldn't have sent my kids any where else.... Read 98 reviews

Senior: I love the atmosphere and the genuine care the teachers and faculty show for the students through connecting with each and every student on a personal level. The family Berean creates is visible in the connectedness of it all. They encourage learning in growth academically, spiritually, and personally. I love mostly everything about Berean. They offer many opportunities and I feel they do a good job at preparing students to go through college and other higher education aspirations. The administration is wonderful and listen toothier student body well. The only change I would like to see is the overall campus wide communication. Often times there is a lack of communication between the administration and the teachers which cause problems and confusion for the students. Overall, Berean is a great school! Senior: I have been going to Rivers Edge Christian Academy for four years and have greatly liked it. I really like how it is structured because I go to school three days a week and stay home for two. This gives me more time to get my work done and it gives me more of a free schedule. I rarely have homework assigned on a Wednesday night. The environment that the teachers provide is really helpful because the classes are relatively small which allows the teachers and the students can have a closer bond. However, I do think that there are areas in the administration that could be improved. If the new members on the board and the administration team knew all of the rules and set the standard by following the rules, I believe that the students would be more compliant to do what is asked of them.... Alum: CMA offered great opportunities of dual enrollment as they are partnered with Pellissippi state community college. Some students graduated with associates degrees along with their high school diploma, and it’s free! They pay for the students classes, books, ACT tests and more. Teachers are amazing and truly care about each individual student. Students get involved in the many clubs they offer! The atmosphere is of a family. Great diversity overall! Alum: The teachers were great, especially the English department. You have to be self-motivated to get your work done and graduate on time. There is no one holding your hand, although the teachers very desperately want to see you succeed! The entire staff is friendly and just the right amount of authoritative. I would like to see the disciplinary aspect change to be more strict. I had a hard time focusing while I was there because students could talk and be on their phones pretty much whenever.. But most students are responsible young adults just trying to get an education, so I understand the lack of rules. Parent: We love First Lutheran School! We started there in the Early Childhood Education program and loved how they treated our children (and how ahead our children were) so much that we decided to remain through 8th grade. Small classes, specialized learning, plenty of extra curriculars, absolutely amazing teachers (that feel like family) and the best education possible with a focus on the Christian faith.
