Sophomore: The Early College at Guilford has a great community and great teachers. Although the trailers aren't the best, the environment overall is great. The school has an atmosphere towards academics. The first two years, especially Sophmore year, are the hardest because of AP classes, although you can get a lot of credit. Senior: GDS is an extremally nice and well rounded school. It is packed with challenging courses and great faculty and staff who work diligently to ensure that students are ready for college and obtain the opportunity to pursue their own path. With that said, as someone who has attended the school for six years now, coming in seventh grade, I find that the school has it's weaknesses. To start the food at GDS is not what it once was, while it is still superior to that of the public schools in the area the cost to quality and meal size ratio is unsettling. In addition there is a very noticeable lack of school spirit from the student body, and while the school and a hand full of student are working to raise school spirit it is still something to be addressed. Ultimately GDS is a great school and community that is very close and will not only prepare you for what is next but also allow you to form strong long lasting bonds with class and school mates.... Senior: I have attended this school for 3 years now and it has been an amazing and unique experience. The office staff is extremely nice and helpful and the teachers are exceptional with their courses. The teachers have taught both honors & AP classes very well and I passed every class and exam. The opportunities were also endless in terms of clubs and service-learning. The environment is welcoming for new students and there is diversity everywhere. Since it was a small school, I was able to develop a relationship with every student in my class. Within a few days of my first year, it felt like family. By junior and senior year, I attended college classes at the university which helped with college readiness. Now, I can transfer credits and save lots of money in college! The only drawback was that our school did not offer arts or sports which is something that I would like to see differently. Junior: I love it here! there are great opportunities that are offered, that you won't find at a "normal" public high school you are district to. There are incredible artists here with amazing talents. The students are very well mannered and there are little disruptions in class if any. There are not as many class options as it is a small school, therefore not many AP class options. Middle School Student: This middle college is a great way to become introduced to college life with limitations of control it's definitely a way for any teenager to find themselves. I've grown to be very mature and how business should properly be handled. I've created a family dynamic that's rooting for me along the way. And for that I am greatly proud. Yes, it can be mentally draining but the amount of free time I receive from getting my work done makes up for all those things. Although the staff can be unorganized in such important times that's the only experience that will be the toughest. The teachers each teach you something that will help you throughout life. And the classroom dynamic is built to really learn something not just because the teacher gets paid to do it. One of my favorite things is the way they greet you when you're at the finish line. High School Senior: My school is unique because it's far from a traditional school. There's a lot more freedom than a regular high school but there is also more responsibility that comes with it. Senior: My experience with this school is very good, I have met and made friends with many of my peers that are true to themselves, and the teachers and workers there are very friendly and caring. Its academics are well above average and the school does very well with teaching you essential skills like applying technical skills with life in the real world to help you prepare for the real world. This school has its flaws and I'm not saying it's a bad thing but the diversity is good I'm not seeing many males from a minority group pursuing medical and even a minority of other groups attending this school. Other than that this school does well with accepting people from a variety of backgrounds. This school needs to offer more extracurricular activities, not make people do medical if they don't want, and instead suggest other ways to succeed and also have more fun events at school since we barely have a day where we all celebrate as a community for most of the day.... Senior: The Middle College at GTCC-Greensboro is overall a great high school to attend. The staff and administrators strive and do their best to make sure all students are on a college level and succeed in all their classes. The guidance counselor is also really great, she answers any and every question you may have to the best of her ability, she helps with the college application process, she provides students with great tools and website links that can help students, and she’s also a great help when applying for scholarships. Alum: Going to Vandalia Christian School was an amazing experience. It was at Vandalia where I won the NCCSA State Cross Country meet. This school gave me incredible opportunities such as the following: playing guitar in chapel crew, preaching at fine arts, running cross country, receiving a solid education, and preparing me to enter into college. Although I only attended for three years, they may have been the best three years of my life (especially junior year where I met my present day girlfriend). I really wish that Vandalia had offered more AP courses because I would have liked to take more than just AP Statistics and I wish that the AP Statistics course that they do offer better prepares students for the AP Statistics Exam. Senior: I first found out about The Middle College at Bennett my sophomore year when my friends who attended told me about it. When i transferred to the Middle College in the 11th grade i was going through a rough time where i was battling depression because so much was happening during that time. I found myself having to completely start over in the two years . Within the first two weeks i kept having to introduce myself and why i transferred. I told them i was on the verge of not caring anymore because i was drained. Within two years i turned my grades around getting A's and B's in classes i was nearly failing and was the president of the Science club my junior year and Club queen of Art my senior year. I showed tremendous academic growth with the strong support of my Bennett family. I wish i would have known about them my freshman year because i defiantly would have attended. Parent: My daughter has been attending the Experiential School for two years now, and I can tell you that this is not your ordinary middle school experience. These teachers use math, science, and ELA learning to help students think critically about issues that are happening in our world today. They learn the power of discourse through project learning and group discussion. This school is an amazingly inclusive environment. And as a parent I appreciated how they handled the switch to remote learning through COVID. I did not feel like my daughter missed anything when it came to her education. Senior: Rockingham County High School is a very connected community. The administration consistently reforms the environment for the safety and confortablility of the students. I can also personally attest that we also have many amazing teachers that make learning a genuinely fun process. The staff all have amazing personalities that wonderfully contrast and create an ideal learning environment. The atmosphere at this school is certainly above average. But do not be fooled, certain aspects of this school are average. The academics are nothing to be particularly excited about as what is offered here can pretty much be found in most other public high schools.
