Sophomore: I am extremely grateful to PA. Coming from a lower income background, Andover has opened doors and introduced me to countless opportunities. I’ve been able to gain new passions, such as running and activism, and practice my old ones under incredible instruction and with access to fantastic resources. My only issue with the school is that it’s an incredibly stressful environment for 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 year old students - meaning students are handling both normal teenage stress (pertaining to popularity or pop culture), along with the stress of elite college admissions. There’s not much done by the administration to combat this, meaning students have to tackle it themselves, resulting in people getting overwhelmed, and sometimes leaving the school. However, most of us stick it out, but at what cost? All in all, I would recommend Andover if you’re someone who feels as if your current environment is too restricting and you want to broaden your horizons and meet new people.... Read 168 reviews

Parent: My son recently graduated from MX and his experience was a game changer for him. It is academically intense but non competitive, with students studying together and helping each other succeed. It is one of the kindest places that fosters friendliness and acceptance. His friends are smart, caring, multi faceted and diverse in every sense. The teachers take the time to build relationships and get to know the kids, meeting weekly as advisors to learn about and support their students as they navigate academics, sports, friends and teen challenges. Parent: My son has had an incredibly positive experience at Lawrence Academy. The teachers are wonderful and nurturing; and the advisor program encourages involvement and good study habits. Lawrence Academy is a community rich with actives; arts and music, athletics, clubs, charitable events as well as leadership opportunities. The staff and administration are continually providing many different ways for students to become involved, promoting the diverse interests of all the students. By joining the soccer team his freshman year, my son made lots of great friends very quickly, both other freshman and upper class-men. He has found LA to be a warm and welcoming environment. Lawrence is a great balance of academics, activities and community. I'm so thankful to have found this perfect place for my son to grow and develop throughout his high school years. Senior: When I first started at ASD in sixth grade, I was determined to go somewhere else for high school. Now, I'm a senior, and staying was the best choice I ever made. ASD might be small and nerdy, but it has an incredible community. The teachers aren't there for the money; they're there because they're passionate and knowledgeable. The students all know and support each other. We're best known for our academics, and for good reason. The high-school-level classes start in 7th grade, and they remain challenging and innovative all the way through 12th. Overall, ASD was ranked the number one high school in NH, and it truly is.... Middle School Student: I go here it is awesome! Everyone is so welcoming and is very kind and I already have a ton of friends. Curriculum is tough, but worth it, and you are still able to do out of school activities. Staff and Admins are amazing and genuinely care about the students education. There is a wide array of after-school clubs including but not limited to: Drama Club, Book Club, Sci-Fi Club, First Lego League, Math Counts, Science Quiz Bowl, and Band. Do note that the only sport they have is Middle School Cross-Country but you are able to participate in sports in your district. Parent: When our little elementary school closed at the end of our eldest son's Kindergarten year, we were heartbroken. We loved that the school community truly felt like family and welcomed any and all members from various backgrounds so openly. We were unsure where to send our children as a result of this closure until we toured Academy of Notre Dame. Not only did their professionalism and academic expectations remind us of our previous school, but upon hearing and seeing evidence that one of the cornerstones of the school is the celebration of diversity, we were convinced that we had found the perfect place for our children to learn and grow. These past 2 years have been nothing short of stressful, but one thing we did not have to worry about is whether or not our children were continuing to be educated and nurtured the same way they had that first part of the year at NDA when school was in person before Covid shut down the country. Parent: We currently have 2 children ages 6 & 8 at the Lower School. We couldn't be happier with the Teachers, Administration, Volunteers, and total Community at BCA! Our Kindergartener started reading at 5 years of age after entering the start of the school year not knowing all the letters or sounds. Our 2nd Grader is excelling at reading, math, and takes piano offered at the school! The teacher to student ratio is unmatched and the BCA community is personal, available, and supportive. My children's favorite time of the day (besides recess) is bible study. They cannot get enough of the stories! Teachers are able to give their personal attention to those who need it. Parent: Both of my boys attend The Birches and have enjoyed it. My boys couldn’t be more different. One is really into sports and the other enjoys D&D at the after school program. Both have learned the ukulele and the oldest is now playing the drums. They are challenged with public speaking from a young age during the school’s weekly gathering, forest forum, where all grades get together. The art program is great and their projects are frequently integrated with what they are learning in their class. The teachers and administrators are excellent. When Covid hit they were ready and we didn’t miss a day of school. Middle School Student: I would say that the teachers I've had at McCarthy-Towne have been overall good. Since I am graduating this year (6th Grade) I'll have been going there for four years. My first teacher (3rd Grade) was very nice and welcoming, so was my second but in 5th grade my teacher was really mean and controlling. This year they are preparing us for Jr. High so we have two "main" teachers who are both really nice in their own ways. One thing I dislike about the school is the food, if you are considering sending your child her make sure to pack their lunch! Another is the fact that they don't really prepare you for the Jr. High in the sense that there is barely any homework. Overall a good school though.... Read 1 review

Alum: I graduated from Douglas in 2020. Overall it was a fun seven years of my life, but I didn't learn much. I started there in Kindergarten and ended in 6th grade. I can't say the academics were horrible, because I learned a few things, but I was never "challenged." There was minimal homework to back up what we learned, which didn't help much with the fact that we were there to learn. I liked most of my teachers. My favorite experiences were in 5th and 6th grade. In 5th grade for our exhibitions, my class created a website called the "Team 5 Times." Another one of my favorite 5th-grade projects was the Oregon Trail. We turned our desks and tables into wagons, used power tools, and made our own games. (I made a geyser and helped with the Oregon Trail game). My favorite 6th-grade moments were Nature's Classroom (a 3-day overnight field trip) and our class play. Senior: Overall, my experience at Bishop Guertin High School has been amazing, not only for furthering my academic knowledge but bringing me friendships with many that will last a lifetime. On the positive side of Bishop Guertin, the teachers are extremely knowledgeable and always have pushed me hard, no matter the subject, putting me in a far better place for my future than those attending public schools. In addition, I have always been held to a very high standard while at Bishop Guertin High School, which leads to the fact that I am well-prepared for my college years and all of my future endeavors. On the negative side of Bishop Guertin High School, there is almost too much homework and assessments as it becomes very overwhelming. Also, the teachers tend to put unnecessary stress on the students, which becomes exhausting. Other: No, there is no fancy facility or tons of extra curricular offerings such as sports. This is an underfunded charter school in NH. But with that being said, the academics are stellar, the staff truly cares for kids and the administration knows what they are doing ( I will take experience and consistency in how things are handled over popularity any day). My child made great strides, leaned real world skills and wished they had a high school. Charter schools are not for everyone, and that is okay, but this one is worth checking out! Senior: Minuteman is a great school for students to find themselves and get a jump start on their careers. Academics are definitely on the easier side, however some, but less than most, are very extreme and unforgiving. Guidance department is strong and effective, however, the social services department is a complete joke. Counselors will likely not even remember the students name half the time. If your student needs 1/1 direct services or needs a special education room after middle school, this is simply not the school for them. Bullying is non existent and incidents are handheld well.
