Freshman: Foothill high school is in the Pleasanton Unified School district which is well off economically. The school receives large amounts of funding that is used to run over 50 clubs, Tens of various electives ranging from government to aerospace engineering, providing free lunches every day in addition to the variety of tools used for education. For example the multiple 3D printers utilized by STEM classes. A newer computer lab with Mac PC's. Foothill is an enjoyable high school experience. Most teachers here have graduated from good credited schools and are pleasant. The worst part of my time here would most likely be navigating a confusing campus with inconvenient locations.... Parent: We travel more an hour each day to be here. Our children thrive here and we look forward to sending our third student in a few years. Committed staff and parents make this community one that we are proud to call our own. Our students are challenged while being nurtured and supported. Students are exposed to a curriculum that is so much more than memorization and regurgitation. They are required to think critically when completing assignments. Our students have made life long friends among their schoolmates and their families. Staff routinely goes above and beyond what is expected of them and consistently make our students feel secure while at school. The travel component has immeasurable benefits. Senior: Alsion is a great school for students who are willing to put in the initiative and make the leap towards higher education. The duo-enrollment program has allowed me to learn how to communicate with others much better, as well as learn how to reach out to my professors when I need help. As a result, I feel very prepared for college, since all of my classes since 10th grade have been at a community college. Sophomore: I went there for 5th grade. I love the smell of the new buildings and had an awesome time there. The teachers are nice and caring. This is a glitch. Alum: Granada had a lot of pride within the students and especially the faculty. As a IB Diploma student, I worked with some of the best teachers and each student grew so much from that program in terms of work ethic and simply finding the value in using their voices. Many of the teachers seemed to be very passionate about their jobs and wanted to make a positive impact on every student. Various teachers kept their doors open during lunches where many student of all groups would come to just hang out, very welcoming. Of course there was the occasional teacher that was out to get us, but it is okay. I wish there was more pride and support with our sports teams as these past few years, many have been making it to state including softball, which I played for. There was mostly pride with the football team, but they were never that good so that went away too. Senior: The social aspect of Livermore High School is unbeatable, with an extremely involved leadership class, that puts on and hosts many unique, and engaging events to bond the students on campus. When it comes to sports, many teachers just take on the roles as the coaches, rather than scouting for coaches that may have professional, or even college experience, in each sport. In addition, the academics are not as strong as I would have liked them to be. While I was at the top of my class, I am only getting slightly above average scores on things such as AP tests, and my SATs. I believe that the academic rigor of our classes is not hard enough, and we need to see a more lecture-style, college-like teaching in the classrooms, in order to further prepare us for college.... Senior: Not only is the staff incredibly welcoming and kind, they are also extremely accommodating.
