Junior: Mid-Carolina High is a very welcoming school, not all of the students are the best and we have our flaws but our academics are above average and a lot of the students stubs to do the best we can. The hallways are typically kept very clean and most students are very welcoming to anyone new that may come along. Most of the time student council and other student invoking clubs are eager to get other students to participate and try to have fun. We have great resources within the library and all of the teachers are usually really eager to help you with anything that you may need. We also have great guidance counselors and leaders of our school that will always take some time to help you with future college plans or hear about any of your concerns. I feel that this school is a great learning and physical environment for people to enroll their children for many generations to come.

Senior: The things that I like about Newberry High school is that you get a chance to experience different things and also build a relationship with the staff and all of the students. Also the fact that the school participated in getting foreign exchange students helping them see the difference in education here in the United States and where they live. Newberry High School allows a great faculty to help the students that may have problems with graduating or passing there grade in general. The one thing that I would like to see change is that all students are more involved into school activities and also finding a way to enjoy school. Not all students like coming to school but some come to school to get away from things at home that they are facing and at school it’s the only place where they can be themselves and make more friends.

Senior: I started Whitmire Community School in the spring semester of my 8th grade year. Since then, everyone has become one big family. I'm best friends with my teachers children, we all know everyone else's names, and the student to teacher ratio is about 13:1! There is no where near as much drama as you would find at a bigger school. I couldn't imagine going to high school anywhere else.

Parent: I am very impressed, so far. While I understand the comment about parents not seeming to be as involved, this area also has a lot more working-class people that can't always take off for school things. Our daughter was formerly in a district full of "snooty" people because there were more rich families where children's mothers - and sometimes fathers - made a "career" out of their own image at the school rather than caring about their children. The children at Newberry are much more down to earth, the teachers actually communicate with you and they aren't stuck on legalistic policies. I feel our daughter feels much more at home here and they are doing great with implementing continuing and new programs and opportunities.
