Junior: I am a junior at Bergen County Academies and I have had a good experience so far. The teachers at Bergen County Academies are for the most part very knowledgeable in their fields. They are willing to go above and beyond. I also appreciate the fact that the school tries to ensure college readiness through guidance seminar and an overall competitive environment. One thing that I would like to see change at Bergen County Academies is the availability of resources for students. While the school does have a lot of resources available, I feel like there could be more support for students who are struggling academically or who need extra help. Another issue students may encounter is the fact that they are locked into their chosen academy. Overall, my experience at Bergen County Academies has been positive. It is a great school with a strong focus on academics and extracurricular activities, but getting involved in those activities might be difficult due to the already extended school day.... Senior: Bergen Tech Teterboro is really a wonderful school in so many ways! It has offered me so many different opportunities to further my academic career as well as many different ways to pursue my passions. One thing I love about our school is that since we're a technical school we have majors, Digital Media for the win, we have the chance to not only learn skills that we would have to wait for college to learn, but we also have the opportunity to work with industry standard equipment and materials that prepare us for entry into the workforce. Parent: What a great place this is! The kids here are genuinely happy and spirited. The culture is upbeat and supportive. Teachers really get to know their students well, and it is abundantly evident that they care about them. The curriculum is innovative. Advanced seminars are offered, as well as independent study. There are traditional AP classes as well as Honors courses. Athletics are great, and there is a strong theater and arts program. Some prospective parents worry that MBS is not rigorous enough, and that their child won't get into an elite college. In fact, I was one of them. Turns out that simply was not true! Parent: Pioneer Academy is a great school, both on the academic level and ethical level. It provided a safe and nourishing environment for both my kids, the elder of them attended Pioneer for the 4 years of high school and helped him a lot. He finished the school last year and now is enrolled in a highly ranked engineering college in New Jersey. My youngest son has been attending Pioneer since 3rd grade. He is now in 8th grade and enjoying the school with all that it offers, good teachers, great learning facilities, different sports activities and safe environment. Senior: I love my experience at the frisch school. During vacations and breaks, I just look forward to coming back. Junior: My experience at DCL STEM Academy has been great. I received amazing opportunities such as participating in the BD debate challenge about whether genetic editing on human embryos should be permitted. Furthermore, I was surrounded by like minded students who have are passionate about STEM. I had the ability to do many hands on activities that led me to experience one on one what its like to be in the medical field. For example, I have diseccted a sheep's brain, watched a live kidney transplant, and heard lectures from college students and medical professionals. The teachers at STEM always push their students to do their best and the school has great resources if you are ever struggling in a subject. Junior: Al ghazaly is a good school if you want your child to grow up in a strong Muslim community! The sense of community at this school really makes it like no other! However I would say that if you are looking for artistic opportunities or special needs services this school would not be my top choice. There is a very apparent lack of resources that prevents the school from excelling artistically and the tight knit Muslim community grants a lack of diversity. Senior: Applied Tech has really grown into an academic powerhouse along with its other county counterparts in Bergen Tech Teterboro and Bergen County Academies. After junior year, they grant students with the freedom of selecting college classes they wish to take at little cost thanks to our relationship with Bergen Community College, allowing students to select the rigor of their Senior year as well as how high they want to strive academically. Your senior year will take place with only BCC classes, truly allowing yourself to get a basic understanding of the college experience before graduating. The school continues to grow academically each year, even offering students with the opportunity to receive an education in cybersecurity (which is only offered in one other NJ school system), as well as a full Associates Degree before graduation in high school!
