Alum: Park Hill South taught me a lot about myself. Not only did I grow as a person, but I learned more than I could have ever imagined. I am very thankful to all of my teachers and the perseverance that they portrayed throughout my years of high school. My class went through a lot of change, particularly involving covid, but my teachers never gave up on the potential that they saw in us students. I feel that this school prepared me very well for college and it makes me excited for the future that lies ahead of me. The opportunities to take AP courses, dual credit enrollment, and other services provided to students of various needs allowed our school to prevail. Furthermore, Park Hill South’s athletics became a huge part of my life. My involvement in swim team allowed me to attend State all four years of high school and receive All-State honors, as well as make some of the best friends I could have asked for.... Senior: Overall, I have had a very positive experience at park hill. I have been given opportunities that many others haven't such as a wide array of AP classes to choose from, counselors that have helped me with college and career preparation, and support in the face of economic hardship. They have helped with this through the free and reduced lunch program and have helped to make sure that my AP/ACT exams are covered as well as my parking pass, activity pass, and prom ticket. I have also been majorly impacted and uplifted by the friends I have made at Park Hill. This is due to the fact that I met them in classes that we were both passionate about such as AP Bio and AP Environmental Science. I have also met friends through the clubs at Park Hill, of which there are many. I have made many true friends through conservation club. Senior: Coming to Maranatha from a public school made a huge difference in my education. I am so glad I have had the privilege of learning from a Christian education. Most of the teachers and staff are kind and helpful and are always open to answering your questions. Some people in leadership need to be replaced and currently, Maranatha is in the process of doing that. Sports programs can definitely become better, but being on a team with the MCA community is great. I wish Maranatha had a counselor so the students could come talk to him/her about personal problems instead of burying the teachers with their problems. Senior: I have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 years, and the start of my senior year, at St. Pius X. We are a school of 368 students this year, so we have a closely knit, small community here. Everyone knows everyone and our school spirit is quite abundant. We, the student body, fill up the bleachers at multiple sporting events a week, such as football, volleyball, or basketball. My school also offers many leadership opportunities, such as student government, student ambassadors, and National Honors Society. It also offers a large amount of college credit courses whether that is AP or ACCP dual credit. Personally, I have taken 9 college credit courses and 2 other college level courses without credit. These classes ranged from foreign language courses to math courses. All in all, I believe St. Pius X has prepared me significantly for college, and life following college, as it has provided many great life lessons and resources to get into colleges by receiving scholarships.... Senior: The students at Platte County are all super welcoming and there is little drama. I feel like my experience at the school early on in my high school career was better and we had more freedom. Recently we have been restricted on lots that has taken away from the enjoyment of specific activities. Overall I give Platte County High School 4 out of 5 stars because despite the issues, my experience has still been good and I would still choose Platte County over any other school district.... Senior: I really enjoy going to this school. The academics are tough but they get students ready for college, (especially our high school English courses). It is a smaller school so students are able to have good relationships with their teachers. The teachers really care about the heart condition and life that their students live. We have weekly chapels with speaks from all over Missouri and the world, (missionaries). Great personal relationships with GREAT teachers. The girls and boys volleyball, basketball, track, science Olympiad, and scholar bowl teams are open to high school students and middle school students in their own divisions. We also have merged our cheer squad and football team with St. Joseph Christian. There is after school care for elementary school students and a spring musical which is fantastic! Junior: West Platte is rich with resources and opportunity. The largest problem that the school has are its policies and their enforcement. For example, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students are not allowed to congregate in the halls nor anywhere else on school property. However, this rule is rarely enforced.
