Senior: Great athletics. Great academics. School is safe to attend. The counselors are always available and willing to help a student out. We have a therapy dog on campus. Lots of great resources for kids with special needs. The library is stock full. We have school of choice in our school district, and most kids will choose our school over others. Junior: As a junior at PCHS, I feel that our school does well with academics. The school offers a lot of IB classes and a few AP classes, as well as tons of honors and regular classes. This ensures that every student will succeed in the classes they choose to take. The teachers are pretty helpful, even during this pandemic they have tried their best to connect with their students. The school offers a lot of sports and clubs to participate in, as well as things in music and the arts. They should probably put more funding into the arts; however, as they do not put nearly as much funding into music/the arts as they do sports. Alum: Although from the outside, the school looks rather bland, it really is the people and experiences that come from the wonderful four years spent there. Even though Kalamazoo Christian is a small school, there are many activities that are available each semester. I engaged in basketball, tennis, theater, band, and the National Honor's Society. The teachers really get to know you and they want you to succeed. I made many memories in that building: Good and bad memories, but I would never change them. Parent: Our daughter expressed to us that she wanted a change of environment (from her public school) and Heritage has provided exactly what she needed. She had gone to a public school since she was in preschool. But the high school atmosphere became too much for her. We visited Heritage and our daughter knew this was where she wanted to be. She has been challenged academically as well as spiritually. I have seen her grow in her relationship with Christ and has started to develop friendships that she has much needed! Senior: I like Loy Norrix, it is a very nice school with amazing teachers and great students. I am a Senior at Loy Norrix and have been going there since I started high school. The classes are good and the teachers are very good at teaching, there are times where I get confused with work but the teachers help me out and make sure I know what I'm doing. The only time that I struggled with school was during the pandemic, it was very challenging to concentrate with school, the work was confusing and it was just stressful but I did it and I passed my classes, but I am thankful we are back in school because I am now getting caught back up and I'm less stressed now.... Senior: I like Parchment High School. I'd say the best part about it is the teachers. There is not one teacher there who doesn't care about their students and their success. They aren't lazy and went above and beyond to provide their students with the best education. Parchment High School is a smaller school, which entails a tighter-knit community. It seems like everyone knows each other which is what sets it apart from other local schools that are bigger in size of student population. I'd say Parchment High School can work on making more kids feel welcome and valued as they are, and they can provide students with more clubs and opportunities to get involved with school activities while also having fun.... Junior: My experience with Kalamazoo Central has been pretty good overall. The learning aspect is fine, most teachers are very thorough and knowledgeable about what they’re teaching, making learning here easy and sometimes fun. The social aspect is also pretty good as well. School events are very fun and exciting with a good turnout of students most of the time. The student culture is also very bonded, with most people of all grades and backgrounds finding common bondage through school activities.
