Alum: I had a wonderful experience at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School. I transferred in from a public junior high, and in my four years at Thomas Jefferson, my education was transformed. There is a huge emphasis on college readiness in all of the courses, and special seminars and activities offered by the school only helped prepare me more. The only drawback of the school is the size and culture, as it was a bit of a shock going from a graduating class of less than thirty with very limited freedom to a large university without anyone coddling me. Overall, it is an amazing school academically, just make sure that the academic pressure doesn't result in a lack of social skills by the time you graduate.... Read 42 reviews

Junior: I love that I was given the opportunity to be given an excellent education with a Biblical worldview in mind. The teachers care about the students, and chapel is an amazing time that is set aside to worship God and learn more about him. Our missions week program is a wonderful opportunity to spread the good news of Jesus. This school has equipped me with motivation as I begin transitioning into being an adult. If I could change one thing about my school, it would be to focus more on the mental health of the students and to give a better understanding of its impact. I've found that the homework load combined with the many extracurricular activities I've been involved in has given me a lot of stress as well as some anxiety. Senior: I love the Catholic Community in this school. Everyone knows each other and no one is a stranger to another person in this school. We take pride in everything that we do, whether it’s an athletic event, or something as simple as wearing a Mcauley shirt out in public. As a senior at Mcauley this year, I couldn’t even imagine going to school anywhere else, the friends that I’ve made are the friends that I went to preschool with. Often times that is just simply unheard of, but not at Mcauley. The effort that the teachers and other faculty members put in to the students is also so incredible and inspiring. These teachers want nothing but success for every student at Mcauley, and they won’t stop until we walk across that stage to receive our diplomas. Middle School Student: The teachers at this school know how to help you, many are willing to give up their time to make sure students understand the subjects and topics being taught. The school district itself provides all students grades 4 and up with chromebooks. Starting at 5th grade you can take these devices home. The district provides many resources for all students and won't let you down. No school is perfect, that's why I rated 4 stars. Senior: Carl Junction High school is rated excellent. I rate CJHS this for many reasons. To start off there's diversity. We have every corner of the world here. I believe diversity should be everywhere. Also, our school is known to have the best academic scores other than the other schools around us. We are also known for everyone being nice to everyone. I feel that this is a big deal because everyone should feel comfortable at a place they are at almost everyday. The teachers here are super helpful and sweet. They make sure that we are college ready. At CJHS we have so many clubs for all kinds of people to join. No one is left out here. Our sports programs amaze me. I played volleyball, softball and track and loved every single memory of each sport I did. Even the food here is great. It is packed with nutrients coming from every part of the food pyramid. Senior: I love the atmosphere at my school, as the building is very open built to have a diverse learning environment. There are many windows throughout which make it a more interesting place to learn, as well as feel connected with the outside world while in class. Most of my teachers throughout my schooling experience at the high school were very kind, understanding people. They would answer questions whenever I asked, and make sure that I understood what I was doing. There were some times when teachers wouldn't quite meet this standard, most of the time they were doubling as coaches and didn't have time to focus on everything at once. Senior: My last four years here at Diamond High haven't been too bad. The teachers from my freshman to junior year were absolutely amazing. They went over everything that would be on finals or EOCs. My senior year has been a little challenging because of one teacher but luckily I can take a dual credit class next semester to help with that. Some things I wish would've changed was the teacher-student respect. Teachers don't show their students respect and continually put them down on a daily basis.
