Senior: It has been a great experience for me. I grew as a person and a student as the years go by. I have made friends that i can consider close brothers to me. The lacrosse team at JCA was a brotherhood to me because we were always there for each other no matter win or lose. The band and drama club were the best thing to happen to me because I became close to everyone there. The Kairos experience is once and a lifetime opportunity and i grew more as a person over there. The education here is great because the teachers make the lessons easy to learn and are helpful if you ask questions. it is a great community to be a part of, so i highly reccomend attending.... Senior: School years in Minooka are surprisingly thrilling due to loads of optional activities you can participate in and outside the school such as painting the school walls, making fun poems for library’s displacement, or just simply walk around the park as a class. Moreover, I do think it has a very healthy studying environment considering how encouraging and friendly the teachers and staffs are. This energy influences the students’ attitudes as well, making it easier to find friends or just start a conversation with someone you don’t know. And one thing I do like in particular is how cohesive all the lessons were, combining them with the positive vibe from the teachers, classes are always enjoyable and fun. I will definitely recommend Minooka High to anyone who wasn’t sure of what school they should attend. No matter what your personality is, you’ll find a place where you belong in there. Alum: The teachers are all very passionate people who clearly enjoy their jobs, but that is only true if you take the right classes. I was on the honors track, and I am confident that I received an entirely different education from someone in my grade who only took regular classes. The advanced programs are excellent, but most classes do not seek to challenge or even engage with students. This becomes a bigger issue with the demographic makeup of honors v. regular classes; because of the segregated middle school system, the majority of Lockport Township's minority students are pushed into regular classes, and once you enter high school on the regular track, with the exceptionally slower pace than that of the honors track, there is very little chance of moving up to the next level. Though I loved my school experience, I wonder if the administration even cares about students in non-advanced classes. Also, barrier to get accommodations is high. Parent: Providence Catholic High School has excellent academics; their students significantly exceed the state averages in all of the standardized test scores. Their student to teacher ratio is 14:1, so every child receives an abundance of guidance and care. But it is the wonderful, loving atmosphere of this school that makes it truly amazing! There are no cliques; the students are so kind and supportive of each other. It seems too good to be true, until you meet the President of the school, Father John Merkelis. Senior: Overall, I thought Yorkville High School was a great experience! I wouldn’t have picked a different high school. I am a senior and have been going to Yorkville schools since forever and enjoyed everything from my music experience to sports to academics. Junior: PCHS is a great school with a great community. Participating in honors and AP classes has challenged me academically. I feel supported by all my teachers and feel they have my best interests in mind. I have an active extracurricular life, participating in choir, Madrigals, drama club, Fall Plays, Spring Musicals, Wildcat Ambassador, Wildcat Care Club, and so much more.
