Senior: Harvard-Westlake. One is in lower school and the other is a junior in the upper school. For the past several years they have been evolving and focusing on the health and well-being of the students! Late starts for high school students, days off for high school students, day trips to Disneyland! Head of School Rick Commons and Associate Head of School Laura Ross are incredible! The teachers are passionate, enthusiastic, outstanding (they often incorporate curbed grading) and there's a supportive team/learning specialists, psychologists who are there for students and parents no matter where they are on their journey! Senior: I love Massey Hill Classical! I have been a student for four years and every single faculty member made me feel welcome right from the start. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants something different with their education. Massey Hill has smaller class sizes so you are able to get more individualized attention from your teachers than you would if you went to a standard high school. Massey is the home of the Pirates, and while we do not have our own sports teams with the exception of the basketball and volleyball teams who compete yearly against Reid Ross Classical in the "Classical Challenge", you are still able to participate in sports of your choice at the school whose district you live in. Very few people are unhappy at Massey because of the variety of programs, clubs, and classes that are offered each year. If you go to Massey, you will always be proud to be a Pirate.... Senior: My experience with Cross Creek Early College High School has been a long and thorough journey. One thing I can say about Cross Creek is that they are exceptional in College Readiness. Cross Creek will make sure that by time you are a senior that you are prepared to apply to colleges, get scholarships, and be in college after graduation. You spend time taking multiple high school courses that are honors and through a partnership with Fayetteville State University take college courses as well. All so that when a student is graduated they have college credits that are enough to be a junior in college. Overall I am glad that I attended Cross Creek for all four years of high school because I have gained so much. Parent: We have had a wonderful experience during our first year at VCA. Our daughter's teachers have all been wonderful - she comes home every single day sharing something new that she's learned. They have encouraged her curiosity and instilled an eagerness to learn, which will serve her well in her academic journey. She has been loved on incredibly well by everyone in this school, from teachers, staff, and students alike. Our home life has been impacted positively by her attendance at VCA, as she shares stories and lessons from the Bible to her younger siblings and encourages conversation about Jesus and his will for our lives. Senior: Jack Britt High School offers a multitude of advanced classes, which is extremely stellar. In addition, it has a lot of amazing teachers who are willing to work past the school day in order to help their students. However, the downside is that the class sizes are very large and there tends to be not a lot of one-on-one teacher-student interaction. In addition, some of the classes offered are for a year-long schedule rather than a semester schedule, so they are very fast-paced and challenging.
