Senior: I love Palmer Trinity School because of the opportunities it has and will provide for me. Coming from a middle-class family, I never thought attending a school like Palmer Trinity would ever be possible. But the school gave me a scholarship and gave me an opportunity to attend this wonderful school. I truly value the academically challenging environment I am placed in and the peers surrounding me. The teachers truly care about not only my education but my well-being. The faculty and staff are extremely kind-hearted and create a warm, inclusive environment. Additionally, Palmer is a college preparatory school, therefore, I have had the opportunity to work alongside a college counselor and take courses to prepare me to attend a challenging University. Junior: Being a student in such a small school has this huge advantage: Each student has a plethora of opportunities to meet with teachers and ask for some extra help! Senior: School for Advanced Studies Homestead is an incredible school choice if you prioritize college readiness and want to get ahead in studies. SAS is for Juniors and Seniors who want to take dual enrollment in highschool to graduate with both a diploma and Associate of Arts degree. The SAS Homestead campus has on average around 150 students every year. Personally, this small school size allowed me to know the students and staff more than I did at any other school, and it allowed us to bond together like a large and close-knit family. SAS's student culture is one where we support, compete, and motivate each other into reaching for our highest potential. The coursework at SAS is very rigorous, however, with proper time management and discipline I had more than enough time to complete any assignments. SAS reserves 3 hours of the school day for college courses and independent study, I took advantage of these 3 hours which many times allowed me to finish my assignments before I even went home.... Alum: My school and campus, specifically, had overwhelming support for its students. The school counselor and teachers wanted all of us to succeed and it was really important to receive such support, especially at a dual enrollment school. I truly believe that I would not have accomplished as many things as I had during my time there if I wasn't enrolled at SAS. Senior: The teachers in the school are amazing! I can't stress this enough! They are so interactive and often teaches in ways the students love! They build bonds with their students which makes the learning process more fun! Our school's many magnet programs allow students to specialize in their schooling, and I've been able to play music every day through their orchestra program. Senior: This school is quite strict when it comes to uniforms and we moved into our new building this year and it is quite small. There is only 500 students so you are pretty much seeing the same faces everyday. There are also no sports. I am however grateful for the opportunity of being able to take dual enrollment classes at the FIU BBC campus for college credit. If you meet the requirements you can also qualify for full-time dual enrollment which may be beneficial if you wish to graduate with your Associates. If you are looking strictly for a STEM career then this is the school for you. I think that even though it is primarily focused on marine science there should be some more creative outlets. We have a journalism class but that is about it. At times the office is also a bit unorganized so it can be frustrating to get the information or documents you need. Overall it's a decent school.... Senior: I was in the visual communications strand. My passion for graphic design developed exponentially through my time there, though my explorations were pretty self-directed. The teacher is leaving this year so it'll probably be different next year. I know that the architecture teacher is great. The workload is quite intense, and if you expect to have flawless grades, you'll have to work significantly harder than in some other schools, as you have to produce quality art for a decent grade regularly. Junior: It's a good school for you if you wanna challenge yourself academically. Every course is advanced, so it's hard to have good grades, and the stress is real. It's worth all the stress though and all the challenges because it does prepare us for college and helps us to be in a good college for sure. I've been in this school since 6th grade! It did help me to get out of ESOL, but I'm just an average student, and being fed with advanced classes just caused me to have bad grades in this school. Later, I started to catch up and it's not really that bad, but I dislike having to struggle with the stress I recieve from the advanced classes cause it's not in my level and I'm just not capable of having straight A's as much as I desire and I accept that I'm not an 'A' student. Junior: I attended Jose Marti Mast for the past six years, and while this school has played a significant role in who I am as a person today, it was not without its faults. JMMA has provided me with a stellar education and teachers dedicated to their students, but it has failed in terms of activities and class unity. Lack of school spirit developed from poorly planned outings and in-school projects, making it harder to create a linked community. When students have concerns, it is challenging to turn to a staff that tends to be just as lost and misinformed as we are. Despite its defects, JMMA has created a competitive environment for the students, which keeps everyone focused on academia and continuously working towards improvement. Senior: ISCHS is a small family. Everyone in there knows and cares for each other. Your teachers know your name, with small and personal class sizes. Senior: This school is like no other. When I was in 10th grade, I was looking for something to challenge me and I prayed to God to get in and by his grace, I did get in. This school pushed me to understand how important our schedule is not just in school, but outside of it. In doing that I started to change the way I did things. So, I longer said, "when I get home I'll do my homework" but instead I started to say, "When I get home at 6:00 I'll do my homework in my room". Senior: My experience at MLA has been a great one. I have been attending MLA since 8th grade and immediately felt included and accepted. It is a smaller school environment where you have more interaction with students and teachers. Any issues you may have in class or needing help with assignments, teachers are willing to help. I was able to create great friendships immediately as many are so welcoming. They have a great sports program where I was able to participate in the boys soccer program all throughout high school.
