Parent: I'm a mom of a current sophomore at Vistamar '26, and my child has been having a wonderfully imperfect experience on all levels, academically, athletically, artistically, culturally, socially, and emotionally. Our teen did not come with a group of friends but was quickly able to meet peers and made a friend during the 9th grade orientation sessions that occurred before school even started. Every family is also assigned a buddy family for the school year so that kids and families get connected, and the REAL questions get answered family to family, before the first day of school. Additionally, in the fall, our child joined a sports team, went to a grade-level retreat in the mountains, and participated in a few club experiences offered by the 11th-12th grade students and Staffulty. There are lots of different ways for kids and families (search PAVE) to get plugged in and to develop a sense of belonging within the Vistamar community! ❤️ We're so looking forward to the next two years!... Other: Ambassador is an incredible school with some of the best teachers and staff! The school has a great reputation for being a loving community to families while maintaining its academic rigor. Some parents and students might feel intimidated when they hear about the early college program but when they hear about the individual support and attention students receive because of smaller class sizes, they immediately are relieved. The school offers college classes on campus that allows students to receive college credit for their high school courses. This can then transfer to many universities, allowing students to save time and money upon entry into college. Some students have even received their AA degrees before graduating from Ambassador. Senior: The worst part of the experience is there is kids who does drugs and doesn’t get caught. And definitely sometimes there’s white privileges being shown. Not against me but to my friends who are also colored. The best experiences is the teachers, 95% of the teachers are super sweet and nice and they always make sure you’re okay and check in with you and respects your privacy from others. The school is trying to be more diverse now. But few years ago, they would accept my Hispanic friend even though they got the transfer paper, they are a really good student, has a 4.0 GPA even til now, and wouldn’t accept him. But accepted other white students, it was during the beginning of 2nd semester so student could enroll into my school as a sophomore. But they are doing much better with the diversity, not a whole lot of minority but way better than a few years ago. Senior: While attending Bishop Montgomery High School, my time has been well spent immersing myself into the community whether it was consciously or unconsciously. Despite attending online school, in my own personal experience, the teachers have been very capable of their jobs and even go out of their way to help their students. Only in my recent years did I encounter more difficulties with them on a personal level, including an account of targeted racism, the rest of the community handled it well and it was soon resolved. In recent years, I have tried to give back to the community by participating in my own comfortable spaces, such as choir, writing, Campus Ministry, and even branching out to different friend groups. All in all, I would say I am very grateful to have attended Bishop Montgomery High School for all four years of high school and for all the opportunities and lessons the students, teachers, and faculty have bestowed onto me that will stay with me for the rest of my life.... Middle School Student: When I attended and then later moved, I found that 1 was ahead of my classes by a lot, and I mean, a lot. I knew things that I learned in elementary that they were teaching in middle school. I miss the school spirit that was always here and overall the teachers and students were very kind and supportive! This school pushed me to do better academically and thats carried over on to my new school as well. The uniform wasn't tacky or uncomfortable, and the food was great!! I honestly would recommend this school to everyone, and even if you are not Christian its a great learning opportunity, in both building character and academic rigor. Parent: Our son started at Pac Lu in Middle School and is now in highschool there. He has experienced a very unique learning environment that combines rigorous academics, a warm and family-like atmosphere, with a sincere Christ-centered focus. The principal is clear and committed about instilling Christian principles. The teachers are of high quality and seem to emphasize in-class engagement, some homework to reinforce but they don't overdo it just to give busy work. Alum: My overall experience was good, but there were some problems. It is a homeschool co-op, which allowed my family and I to be homeschooled which we much appreciated. however, there were times were the school felt very unplanned, I can remember many graduating classes where the venue kept changing due to poor planning. the people are very nice there, but at times people doing the record keeping can get overloaded because of being understaffed. The school usually struggled with money, which would be apparent in some of the classes they offered. no school is perfect, but if these things bother you, it is something to look out for.... Parent: I am a parent of a student who attended WISH Academy High School, a charter school in Los Angeles, CA. I was very impressed with the school’s philosophy of not only excelling in academics, but also integrating social and emotional awareness into the curriculum. Neighborhood community service was also part of the program which I feel prepared the students to be well balanced in their lives. The classes were small enabling the teachers to give their students the individual attention needed. Many Honors and AP classes were offered in various subjects. A special and unique language of ASL ( American Sign Language) was offered. The Music Dept. Is exceptional. Many creative electives such as photography, choir, robots, etc. are offered due to fundraisers and parent involvement. The administration knew every student’s name. The only regret I have about the school is not finding out about it earlier. If I had, I would’ve definitely sent my two sons there to attend middle school as well. Parent: We are entering first grade at Cabrillo. We are a out of district family that permits in. The Wiseburn school district is great to work with and welcoming of out of district families. Their buildings put all LAUSD schools to shame with integrated tech and safety. They have worked with us well regarding a possible 504 and other families I have spoken to have been helped with IEP accommodations (where I have heard multiple nightmares with LAUSD). The teachers have been easy to work with even in the midst of the pandemic issues. We have been very happy with the school and the Kinder education my son has received. Also you will not see the academic scores for this school since it is TK-2 and the testing happens in 3rd Grade and above. Great community school IMO.... Read 1 review

Parent: PHS has been an oasis for a throughout the pandemic. Strict Covid protocols have kept the community safe, and the small class size has allowed our daughter to really thrive instead of withering on the vine on zoom school. The differentiated curriculum has enabled her to move ahead to the next grade level in math, where she has always excelled, without feeling the pressure to skip a grade and move beyond her own socio-emotional comfort zone. The campus is beautiful and offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. I can’t say enough good things about the administrators, who go above and beyond to ensure the happiness of their students. My daughter considers the Head of School to be her absolute favorite teacher of all time. In her words, “Dr Chun is amazing.
