Parent: I am parent whose children attend Riverdale Country School. The River Campus is such a warm and welcoming space for the younger children. At the Lower School, they create an environment where children are encouraged to explore and experiment, appreciate nature, and develop a true love of learning. My children enjoy school and are excited to attend everyday - as a parent, that means the world to me. My eldest child is now on the Hill Campus. The Upper School, offers students a challenging academic environment and many opportunities to get involved in their school community. I have found the teachers to be supportive yet have high expectations and encourage the students to reach their full potential. Alum: I began attending Hackley in the sixth grade and remained there through the end of my high school career. With such great academic resources at your disposal, it's hard to not garner great college readiness. That being said, near-college level stress on children definitely creates a stress-inducing atmosphere. While this may be perceived as preparing kids for the real world, providing few mental health resources and being in the predominantly white, affluent bubble of Hackley does anything but that. Very grateful for the great opportunities the school afforded me both in and out of the classroom, particularly through travel, which was covered by my hefty financial aid. Alum: I absolutely loved my academic experience at Greenwich Academy. The faculty are incredible and really want to help their students. I have formed such close friendships with my teachers over the years and I already miss them! The reason why I gave GA 4 stars and not 5 is because the social life at GA is very tough. If you do not fit the Greenwich stereotype, it's very hard to "fit in" at the school. I will say, however, that it does get easier in high school by a long shot. Alum: I went to Brunswick for 7.5 years. I didn't realize until long after graduation how many important lessons were passed on to the students about life, society, and how the world works. I left mid-year of my own volition and the school was very supportive. I transferred to a boarding school that specialized in winter sports because I was moving onto the international circuit. Brunswick, due to it's location, couldn't accommodate my needs. When I was there the school had lots of good teachers but struggled to recruit new highly talented teachers outside of its own alumni. Athletes were doted on and while the academics were high caliber, they are not comparable to Andover, Exeter, etc. Philips has been head of school for far too long. Parent: Sacred Heart has been a true home away from home for our girls. The school lives their mission every day and really pushes our young women to be independent thinkers who are kind and compassionate. The academic program is rigorous, but there is much support and my girls are really learning to advocate for themselves. It has been amazing to see how Sacred Heart has fostered the individual growth in each of our daughters. They work hard to help each girl find that thing that makes them special and they encourage the girls to embrace their interests while trying new things. My older daughter had an interest in the broadcast journalism program, so she participated in the introductory summer programs while in middle school. Now she is in high school and broadcast is one of her favorite classes. She has taken on leadership roles while sharpening her filming and editing skills. But best of all she is having fun doing it! My daughter scored higher than her other relatives that went to Fordham, Hackley, Marymount, and Regis. Sophomore: First of all, i’d like to admit the effort teachers put into us. Everyone is super respectful and understandable, kind and opened towards you. Also, my friends from this school are the ones i love the most and get along with. Senior: I felt that the community at Leffell was very tight-knit and it was almost like a family. The events there were always fun and were created to strengthen the bonds between everyone who attended/worked at school. However, that being said of course some things could be improved. Senior: Blind Brook High School was an amazing experience for me. The classes and teachers were so helpful and definitely prepared me for each upcoming year. Extra classes are being added to Blind Brook so that there are more options for students to choose from, which can possibly lead to finding a new passion or future career. I would want to see a change in the number of students attending Blind Brook, the school is really small which causes only around one hundred students to be in each grade, this can be hard for people who move here to make new friends since everyone has known each other since kindergarten. They talk a lot about brotherhood in the ads and whatnot, but I truly felt like my peers at Iona were my brothers, and I still feel that to this day. Middle School Student: Loved this school. I had such a great time here in 6th and 8th grade. However 7th grade was a little lacking. We had so much work and stress to get into the advanced classes and most of those selections were based by grades, and you could easily get in with the help of a tutor. Senior: One of the most important experiences during my high school years was learning from the upperclassmen because when I was in 9 and 10th grade, I would learn from the juniors and seniors during football practice and be able to mature myself for college.
