Senior: My whole life I knew I was going to attend Andrean. I have had countless cousins that have gone through Andrean and are now Alumnis. Honestly, I anticipated Andrean to be like any other school. The only thing I expected to get from Andrean was a diploma at the end of my four years. However, I quickly learned this school had so much to offer me. I am a senior now, and I am a completely different person than I was 4 years ago. I find myself to be more charitable. Andrean has monthly service projects that allow students to give back to their communities. These opportunities have taught me the power of helping those in need. I am also more organized. Senior: Many fond, warm memories are connected to this school. Lake Central encourages students to step out of their comofort zones, expand social circles, and reach towards new activities rather than shying away. I was able to build my own character through the encouragement these organizations provided, specifically Lake Central's Theatre Coorporation. Character is important in this disctrict, reminding the students of the power of union and staying true to yourself to make smarter choices. Students are even allowed to create their own organizations to connect with others through various specific personal interests such as writing, culture, arts, astrology, chess, etc. Academically, teachers are always trying to reach out to ensure their students' success. A required course titled "Pathway to Excellence" is another outlet that gives studnets the opportunity to lean on teachers and tackle the fields they seem to struggle in. Senior: My experience at Bishop Noll institute has been amazing and unforgettable. I am part of the graduating class of 2023. I have been at Bishop Noll institute since my freshman and have grown up here. During my freshman year, the pandemic started and the staff and administrators have maybe the school safe and still fun, exciting, and engaging. The one thing that stands out here a Bishop Noll is the family environment. The School is rather, so it is easy to get know everyone and to really become close to them. The school offers a ton of clubs and programs p to help people become engaged and included. The one thing I would love to see change is a better representation of different races, ethnicities, and cultural. The school is very diversified but it needs to do a better job of making sure all the different students can be seen and heard. Senior: I have attended Calumet Christian School since first grade and I am now a Senior!! It has been amazing to see the school grow and improve every year. The staff is dedicated to helping the students, and is willing to put in extra time before and after school to make sure that their kids are on track. Senior: Illiana Christian school has really changed my perspective on God and how a child of God should live. I love that they involve Christianity into our everyday learning. Each and every one of the teachers are a blessing to the students. Though the workload may be heavy, the teachers are always willing to give their students the best support needed. They also are very interested in actually building a relationship with the students, which makes Illiana even better! Every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday we have Chapel, where about 6 seniors lead a new skit about God. Every Tuesday and Thursday the students have club after second period. Students are able to make their own club if they have participants and a teacher to sponsor it! Alum: Like anything in life, there are pros and cons, especially in this case as well. In my eyes, education is extremely important in any school, and I believe Highland does a very good job. The majority of all the teachers, staff, and faculty truly want to help in any way, shape, or form they can regardless of the situation, such as school/education, personal, etc. The school and class sizes are very nice, relative, and proportional. Following the rules, whether they are school, class, or teacher rules, will see you through successfully. There are plenty of extracurricular activities including sports, music, theater, service, and specific fields of interest for everyone to enjoy and participate in. I believe this school takes safety as the most important issue and I felt that was very noteworthy and made me feel safe. Alum: As a high school senior on track to graduate from Highland High reflecting back on Highland Middle school brings a warm feeling of nostalgia. Highland Middle school is full of the most passionate and creative teachers! The curriculum is well designed for diversity so you can find passions and focus on them with your tailored high school class schedule. I can’t think of a single teacher that wasn’t anticipating in readiness and radiating willingness to help a student in the most personal way possible. Alum: I really enjoyed the many activities and events. Something was always happening each month/week whether it involved sports, volunteering for the community/state, or academics. Senior: I have a very good experience with Heritage Christian High School. The classes that are offered are challenging but will prepare students for college if it's in thier future. The teachers are very willing to help students who struggle or have questions. It is a very good environment between the students. Our school offers extracurricular activities such as sports and robotics. This is a great way for students to show their talents outside of their schoolwork. Junior: Griffith High School is a diverse local high school offering CORE40 with Honors Diplomas. In addition, the school offers multiple AP courses and continues to expand their curriculum yearly. They have a limited foreign language department, as they only offer three different languages: French, Spanish, and now Chinese. It would be preffered if they also included German, Latin, and other European languages in their courses. Senior: The academic, cultural, and social opportunities MHS gives outweigh the "bad things"! Critics would say that this is an unpleasant school to send students to, but I, and many others, have used every opportunity that Merrillville High gave us and used it to better society. Quite frankly, most of these beliefs are prejudice, and if you got to know the students and faculty, you would be pleased by their backgrounds, likes/dislikes, struggles, aspirations, grades, and personalities are an awful like your own. Senior: Located in the center of Hammond Downtown stands HAST, a new public charter school that has an alternative way of learning. The small students to teacher ratio combined with the use of technology is the reason why this school is so different and stands out from other Hammond schools. Although this school focuses on science and technology there's opportunities for students to express themselves in clubs and sports. HAST recently celebrated their 10 years and upon it's many new additions to the school (greenhouse, flowerbeds, theater room, TV show) the students and staff are still working on creating a bigger space for it's diverse student body. They also have 'Discovery Time', a class where their middle schoolers learn teamwork and solve real world problems. HAST's passionate teachers and talented students come to school everyday with different goals, interests, and backgrounds, but unite to become the most promising school you could imagine....
