Parent: Greenville Technical Charter High School is a great school! It has small class sizes that allow faculty to get to know students well and help them when needed. The faculty seem to care about the success of each student. The great opportunity exists here to explore Greenville Technical College’s course offerings while in high school, and make progress toward (or complete!) an associate’s degree while still a high school student. Being on the main Greenville Tech campus is an advantage over the other similar charter schools as there are college courses offered on the main campus that are not available on the other Greenville Tech satellite campuses, allowing for a larger variety of college credits to be easily earned. GTCHS retains all of expected high school experiences (athletics, fine arts, student social events, student organizations) while also serving the community by students completing service hours through many varied opportunities. Junior: I have never felt more prepared and excited for college than I do at this school. Not only is the schedule built like a college schedule, but the same rhetoric applies to class structure and community being built. If you or your kid has a talent for the arts they will get some world class training from world class professors here. Academics are strong, but sometimes overwhelming, and administration and fellow staff has an alarming turn over rate, that being said, if you believe you are a capable student you can make it. Dorms and food are so so. The residence hall is small and dated, and the food provided by Aramark is notoriously bad, but there always seems to be vegan and kosher options available, even if they’re very simple. The social scene still has all the traditional pitfalls of highschool, if not heightened due to the residential living situation, but that is unavoidable. Alum: I loved my 6 years at CTC! The teachers are so supportive and creative, we were never bored in class. Some of them were very liberal, especially in middle school, but most of them are still non-discriminative of more conservative people like myself. CTC is a community of learners, everybody knows everybody, and everyone is welcome. CTC will challenge you, inspire you, and force you to grow. It is a second home and you will miss it after you leave. I will say that there is a large gap between CTCers and Sterling kids. They’re only together at lunch, recess, and related arts, but I honestly don’t understand why the two schools are combined. Most CTC students don’t live in that area anyway, and both groups could do with more space. They wouldn’t miss each other very much.... Read 9 reviews

Senior: Academics at Greenville Senior High Academy are both challenging and rewarding. The teachers are passionate about their subjects and always encourage us to strive for excellence. They provide many resources to help us succeed, and the school has a well-equipped library and computer labs for research and projects. One of my favorite things about this school is the wide range of extracurricular activities available. There are numerous clubs to join, like the Debate Club, Robotics Club, or Drama Club. Im personally involved in the Music Club, where I get to explore my passion for playing the piano. The sports program here is fantastic too! We have competitive teams for basketball, soccer, or track and field. Its great to see our school spirit come alive during sports events and pep rallies. Overall, my experience at Greenville Senior High Academy has been positive. Senior: It was overall a good school, I made many great friends and the teachers were amazing as well. Of course there were some teachers that could definitely improve their attitude towards students as it is their job, but there were several great ones as well. There isn’t much diversity in a school like St. Joseph’s, as that is less common in private schools, but even when there is diversity, it’s brought out too much that it makes the gap bigger. Senior: My experience at Greer Middle College Charter High School has been wonderful! The teachers are truly extraordinary and they go out of their way to help their students. The administration does an excellent job of running everything and keeping everyone on top of their game. As a student with an IEP, I must say that Greer Middle College does a tremendous job of making sure I have access to all of my accommodations and that I will always get help when I need it. Alum: I attended Southside Christian School, in Simpsonville, SC, from 6th grade all the way through high school graduation. I had a very good and close understanding and relationship with SCS to say the least. One of the first benefits of attending SCS was the academics. Academics at SCS are nearly unrivaled by any other school in the upstate. The teachers are outstanding and make for certain that every single student takes away the right information and understanding after each class. Speaking of teachers, the faculty and staff at SCS are amazing. They truly care for each and every student and do their best to make an enjoyable and memorable school experience. Extra-curricular activities are also a talking point of SCS. I was on the football team my entire time attending this school, and I cannot explain the vastness of benefits I received from applying myself to football while at SCS. Middle School Student: At Langston, classes are single gender, so each gender learns using techniques that would most pertain to them. Langston is a small school which can sometime be a bad thing, but mostly it is a ood thing. Having a smaller school can mean less facilities, but it is good since you get to know all your teachers and peers on a more personal level. When I first came to Langston, I was very shy, but by the end of my first year, I was open about things, and I wouldn't be scared to answer or ask questions. The friends you have at Langston also matters. Langston is filled with good students and people in general. Going there can mean meeting friends you'll have for a long time. You will also get to know your teachers better so you won't be nervous to ask them anything, and you can treat them like a normal peer. In my opinion, Langston is one of the best middle schools I have seen in South Carolina, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who may want to join.... Read 6 reviews

Senior: Riverside has great options for different career paths (electives, etc) and I have felt they have done what's needed to succeed in college for the most part, regarding curriculum and testing. However, I do believe the school can do much better in guiding their students through different options for graduation and college plans from the start of Freshman year- including early graduation, dual enrollment and getting your Associate's degree while in high school, and just more college prep in general apart from the regular curriculum and classes. I missed many opportunities due to my counselors and teachers not being informed enough about the college process and scholarships, etc. I have been taught by many outstanding educators that care about their students and their well-being. I also wish there was something done about unity within each class and having a more personal connection with everyone overall- from someone coming from a foreign country where this was the norm.... Parent: Had two daughter go through Woodland and I could not have asked for a better school to prepare them for Middle School, High School and further. The Administration, Teachers and Staff always have the students placed first in everything that goes on at the school. I can vouch for that because I saw it first hand while serving as PTA President and Vice President for the school for about 5 years total. Even now, after one daughter has graduated College and one is still in College, teachers they had asked about them and how they are doing when they see me around town. Middle School Student: I had a relatively nice experience at League. I went there for sixth and seventh grade and a part of eighth grade, years of 2014/15 through 2016/17. I did struggle a lot, but that may have been because I never really asked for any help. League is a pretty rigorous school. The teachers expect a lot from you, especially if you’re in an advanced class. This doesn’t necessarily mean the teachers are unapproachable or unfriendly. In my experience, the teachers have been very understanding. Students could always get help from their teachers. Classes were never boring, and we always had something new to do. It was never mundane and never got old. However, barely any of the teachers I had still work at League, so I can only hope this is still the case. The students weren’t the best. Niche User: I appreciate the opportunity this school provides for students. They have a very specific mission that is not for every child. The students whose parents are negative about the school are the ones who create a poor environment for others. Some parents are very negative and have bullied staff to get their way, even posting negative comments here. Parents are made aware of the mission and expectations.
