Parent: From the first time we visited Allendale Columbia School we have been greeted with smiles and warm welcomes from the energetic faculty. The admissions team, front secretary, and early school teachers knew my children by name following our first visit. After considering several options, Allendale was an obvious choice for us and we couldn't be happier! Our two children come home from Nursery and Pre-K with so much to share. They're greeting us in Spanish, telling us about instruments they've played or are interested in, Science experiments they've done, and projects they're working on. Their teachers communicate with parents daily through photos and/or classroom updates. Senior: so far, my experience at McQ has been one of the most memorable high school experiences I could ever ask for. we are a school that is deep rooted in faith and the Jesuit values. we are all brothers, almost everyone knows everyone no matter what grade you are in or who you are. If you ask anyone at McQ what they would do for one of their brothers, it would be an emphatic "anything." I can't even put into words how lucky and thankful to God I am that I was able to attend McQuaid Jesuit for high school. on top of being inclusive and open to all it gets you ready for life and teaches you how to be a respectful young man. Our school spirit in unmatched at any sports event. We might have the smallest section, but we are always the loudest and proudest in the stands. No matter where we go or what we do McQuaid Jesuit students are held at a higher standard and looked at to set a good example. Freshman: I genuinely have loved every second being at Mercy, and sending your daughter here is definitely a gift everyone deserves. I will say though if your daughter doesn’t have great grades in your typical public school, she might not excel here. As someone who had all grades above a 98% at public school, now I average around a 90%. Although the school is very challenging, I feel like I learn a lot more being given more homework, and getting good grades feels much more rewarding. The people are genuinely so sweet - staff and students, and they are all very welcoming. The teachers are very qualified and they are really helpful when you advocate for yourself and ask. In general Mercy pushes for your daughter to grow more independent and be able to go out and conquer challenging tasks on her own, and they really do it amazingly. Alum: When I look back upon my high school experience, I can say those were ‘the good old days.’ I know when you look back to your high school days you either say what I said, or the opposite. You either hated it, or loved it…there’s not much in between. At Spencerport I enjoyed by time. Sure- I had some ups and downs, some good experiences some bad with some teachers- but that’s life that’s gonna happen. One thing I did appreciate from Spencerport was the love for sports. I had 3 older siblings who attended Spencerport a whole 10 years before me. Yes- my blood siblings, All that to say- we all attended Spencerport and had many friends and excelled in sports. That was beyond awesome. The community at Spencerport definitely has a bunch of characters- I met great teachers, some not too great, but I focus on the ones who impacted me and left a lasting impression on my life- to this day. Alum: Hilton Head High School was a great school to attend. There were plenty of clubs, sports, etc to choose from, their Arts Department was by far the best. I moved from Illinois to Hilton Head at the start of my Freshman year and was taken aback by the academic differences between the two states. I was using the same textbooks as a HS freshman that I had been using as a 6th grader in IL, that however is not the fault of the school, that’s on the state of SC. My teachers were great, they were very informative and willing to help students at any time. There could have been more influence on college readiness and SAT/ACT prep for students, but with the school being one of the best schools in one of the worst states we all did fine applying and being accepted to colleges. The school has a diverse makeup of many different races and financial backgrounds but the students all got along well with each other. Student safety was never a concern.... Read 223 reviews

Alum: Bishop Kearney is a great school. It is smaller than most schools, but has a unique feel and environment that most others can not compare with. The smaller class sizes help with 1-on-1 interactions; you get to know your teachers and classmates well. Most teachers are friendly and helpful. Many have been there for years. Students also are friendly. Most live across greater Rochester; a good size come from across the US, Canada, and some are International kids. The school offers many honors and AP classes. Lots of computer-based assignments, papers and projects, but still many handwritten assignments, notes, etc. Workload can get heavy during junior and senior year, but is good prep/experience for college. Facilities are a bit outdated, and could use some work. Has a good sports program; at least one team usually goes to sectionals every season. A good overall high school experience in general.... Senior: Gates Chili High School is a school that, while not perfect, really prepares students for their lives, while also prioritizing education as well. The teachers and counselors work to create an environment that works for as many students as possible and work to make it so everyone feels they can ask for help and actually get it. Most of the teachers are pretty well-liked by students and have good rapport with their students and can create trust between themselves and their students. The school also provides a lot of different extracurriculars, like many different sports and clubs and music programs that people can join and use to express themselves and make friends with similar interests as them. Senior: The school offers a variety of classes for students to choose from, but choice of electives are mostly restricted until junior and senior years. There are plenty of advanced classes to choose from and the teachers are good. There are also plenty of sports teams and clubs to attend outside of school. Music is good as well. Facilities include the GPAC which is the only performing art center in the district. It is an excellent facility. Alum: The teachers at Arcadia are very hit or miss. Some are absolutely amazing and some seem to go out of their way to make your life miserable. They have classes available for both students that want to take normal classes and those who want to take the extra step and be in Advanced Placement. The music department is wonderful, although the orchestra lacks significantly in comparison to the band.
