Alum: I had an incredible experience at MCDS throughout middle and high school. MCDS offers a wide variety of activities (extracurriculars, sports, community service, etc.) that give every student the opportunity to find their niche and shine. The academics are strong and the teachers especially unique in their willingness to form bonds with students. Some of my fondest memories during my time there were with my teachers. Junior: Let me tell you, this high school is #1 in Florida and #4 in the nation for an excellent reason. This unique program 2-year program has been amazing. I have never been happier to switch to such a fantastic school. If you're lucky enough to be the few allowed into the school after applying, then you'll be able to experience a schedule that is unlike any other high school I have ever seen. You have 3 hours every single day to yourself (and college classes as this is a dual enrollment program) and to complete any work. The teachers and fellow students are just absolutely amazing! The environment is stunning as we are housed within a college campus; it's very open with lots of green! Not to mention this program allows you to start college 2 years early.. completely free! Senior: The teachers in the school are amazing! I can't stress this enough! They are so interactive and often teaches in ways the students love! Junior: My experience at Coral Reef Senior High School would have to be how positive the environment is. Everyone always has a smile on their face. Staff, teachers and faculty are all helpful when solving a situation. The worst part of my experience would have to be the lunch lines going slow. Senior: This school is quite strict when it comes to uniforms and we moved into our new building this year and it is quite small. There is only 500 students so you are pretty much seeing the same faces everyday. There are also no sports. I am however grateful for the opportunity of being able to take dual enrollment classes at the FIU BBC campus for college credit. If you meet the requirements you can also qualify for full-time dual enrollment which may be beneficial if you wish to graduate with your Associates. If you are looking strictly for a STEM career then this is the school for you. I think that even though it is primarily focused on marine science there should be some more creative outlets. We have a journalism class but that is about it. At times the office is also a bit unorganized so it can be frustrating to get the information or documents you need. Overall it's a decent school.... Senior: I was in the visual communications strand. My passion for graphic design developed exponentially through my time there, though my explorations were pretty self-directed. The teacher is leaving this year so it'll probably be different next year. I know that the architecture teacher is great. The workload is quite intense, and if you expect to have flawless grades, you'll have to work significantly harder than in some other schools, as you have to produce quality art for a decent grade regularly. Junior: Immaculata-La Salle has been amazing throughout my time here and it’s scary that I am a rising senior now. The teachers are amicable and most of my peers are gregarious people that work to help each other succeed. If I were to describe the school with one phrase, I would say “Iron sharpens iron”, which has been shown in both athletics and academics at ILS. As a student athlete, I can gladly say that the athletic programs are well-developed and have great coaching staff. Furthermore, many teachers are understanding with extracurriculars because the school offers so many. One day I may 3 hours away at a track meet in the Florida Keys while that weekend I am at a refreshing retreat. The only change I would appreciate from the school would be to offer more AP classes or to allow certain credits to be done via dual enrollment. Junior: There is no point in hiding what this school has to offer and what could be changed because the most important part of attending a high school is for the opportunities they give you and the environment of daily academic life. Mast is a school that offers courses specializing in medicine and technology. From internships, to volunteer opportunities, and summer programs, this school offers no shortage opportunities mostly in stem. You just have to take advantage of this in order to profit. As for class environment, it depends on preference. Here at mast there are few class disruptions. Since we don’t have sports, we focus on academic competition. Some find it stressful.
