Alum: Graduate of 2004. CRMS was a great fit. It had strong academics (Plato and Shakespeare, Didion and Marquez), a great balance of work and sport, and promoted students' passionate ideals. I became a teacher, and have worked in schools from Vermont to California. Lots of schools make claims about prioritizing 'community' and 'values' - but very few walk the walk the way that CRMS does. I gained an appreciation of the arts, of the outdoors, and of an honest day's work. I took classes like Russian Lit (Tolstoy, Solzhenitsyn) and Eastern Philosophy (DT Suzuki, Thich Nhat Hanh); Ceramics and Photography; Geology and Environmental Science. From glass and metalwork to backpacking trips and canoeing, there's no other school like CRMS. It's not for everyone - no school is - but it is an incredible place for young people to grow and develop into the conscientious, capable, and creative adults our world needs.... Read 30 reviews

Senior: GSHS has a very robust curriculum and allows for a wide variety of extracurriculars and class options. There are several paths you can pursue through the school and many opportunities for various course levels. One issue I have had is with certain teachers and the policies associated with transgender students. Senior: Yampah helped me follow my dreams and figure out what I want to do in my life. The staff is beyond supportive and the opportunities presented to me have changed my life. The downside is the student culture seeming to get worse every year until the it's no longer about taking advantage of more freedom to graduate early and further education but about partying and doing as little work as possible. Senior: The Garden School (now Liberty Classical Academy) is a private University-Model School. It runs three days a week and assigns work to be completed on the remaining two days of the school week. The curriculum focuses on on of the four parts of the flow of western history every year : Antiquities, Christendom, Americas, and Modernity. This cycle is repeated every four years, so students who begin at Liberty in first grade will learn about each time period three times, first in elementary school, then once middle school, and then high school. This provides a multilayered view of history that challenges students like myself to engage with various texts from the time period being studied and begin to use the process of rhetoric to ask questions about ideas that have been built upon since first grade.
