Senior: I enjoyed the endless possibilities to get involved in sports, clubs, and other after school activities! I always had so much fun at the sporting events in the student sections. The teachers all very inclusive. Something I would change is maybe some more focus on how important no fighting and being kind and safe at school is. Senior: My experience at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School has been amazing. I have made lifelong friends, become more confident in myself, and had an outstanding education. However, there have been some turbulences with these successes. As an all girls school, they did a great job preparing me for success and empowering me to achieve everything I desire. I think this is something all girls deserve, and I feel extremely lucky to have experienced this. On the other hand, it is also a Catholic high school, and as someone who is not religious I often felt confused or excluded from certain experiences. Theology classes were mandatory all four years, and I struggled in some of them because I would not understand many of the class discussions or Bible references. I learned how to manage this, but it was not an easy task. The boys learn to be self-sufficient. They often organize the school events and run the events themselves with a high degree of efficiency, school spirit, and thoughtfulness. The older students continually take an interest in helping younger students connect to the school community when they arrive at MUHS because the ninth graders come from middle schools all over the region. The meaningful bonds between the boys is evident. The faculty is topnotch and highly committed. The school understands how to motivate young men both academically and socially. Alum: Dominican was the perfect high school for me. Dominican lives out the Sinsinawa Dominican values of preaching, community, partnership, and justice, instilling these values in the students who attend. A Catholic culture is ever-present, although the student body is about 60% Catholic. In my experience at Dominican, I was able to have friends from diverse backgrounds and experiences which was really enriching and unique for most schools in the Milwaukee area--reflecting the demographic of the part of the city they live in. Going to Dominican High School is the best decision I have made for myself thus far. They have set me up for success in college by helping me every step of the way, whether I needed them to walk me through things step-by-step or needed to work alone. There are staff members I feel comfortable going to for answering questions and some even for asking for life advice. I have formed friendships here that I know I will have for the rest of my life. Middle School Student: I have been attending this school for nearly 11 years (I started when I was 3), and honestly my experience has been pretty good. The teachers are really good, and it is a very hands on learning experience. The classes are small so your child will not slip through the cracks and they will always be given a chance to succeed. However diversity could be better, if that's something you care about, the majority of the student population is white and if you're a person of color at this school, you might be the only person of color in your class. Also the teachers and staff aren't as diverse, but regardless they are great! This school will prepare your child for success in their high school career, and it is a very welcoming environment. Senior: This school is one of the best private schools you can attend in Wisconsin. Every Wednesday is an early release day where students leave the school at 1:10 and head home. The teachers in this school allow you to get the best learning experience by thoroughly explaining topics and assignments. As long as you do your work, you won't have piles of work to get done. For every assignment you will get a due date that will be at least 2 days or longer depending on the teacher and the class. You wont have homework that is due a day after getting it and it gives students more time to get their work done. Another thing that is so great about this school is the lunches. The lunches are great! You can either pay for the lunches with lunch money or bring a home lunch. The school consists of more than 12 clubs and is one of the best schools in Wisconsin for athletics and sports. Senior: I’ve attended Believers in Christ for nine years of my life. Thanks to this school and its procedures in learning I’m am more sagacious Ingres and egress the school. The teachers not only care for your classwork, but they also care for your well-being outside of schooling. I enjoy being enrolled at Believers in Christ because the environment isn’t crowded, the staff is warmhearted and smart, and the school offers me enough time and space to become the best me I could be. If there was one thing I would like to change about the school it would be the amount of physical education we receive. People would think getting more time for study rather than running around would be beneficial, but now that I am a senior and I am soon to be leaving for college I now understand that having the extra curriculum activity would be more beneficial. Junior: I absolutely love how Milwaukee Lutheran High School gives many opportunities to students to prepare for the future, whether if we want to go to college or not. We have academies that we can join like art, honors (college prep), business, trade, urban ed. and more! We also have a bunch of electives that most schools do not have like a welding/wood workshop class. Also, there are no boring classes. After the required classes taken as freshmen and sophmore, upperclassmen can explore different classes in each department. Some of my favorites are sociology, contemporary issues, anatomy, and oral communications. I will never forget how Milwaukee Lutheran High School is home. Everybody there is one big family. All the teachers and staff are resourceful and make me feel comfortable and safe. And all the students are so loyal and kind.
