Parent: When my kids started school something just didn't seem right. At the time, I didn't know what was wrong, I just knew it wasn't right. After several years we looked at Brookfield Academy and learned that the classical liberal arts education and its teaching of grammar, Latin, Western Civilization coupled with BA's focus on freedom, Singapore Math, economics and its five stars that help develop good character in well-rounded individuals, is what was missing. We switched schools and the kids never looked back. Through their years at BA each child discovered passions in academics, Certamen, fencing, chess, art, and theater in addition to more common sports and clubs. In college now, they are well-prepared beyond their peers in academic foundation, resourcefulness, comfort in speaking directly with professors (thanks to the amazing teachers at BA and their desire to know their students), and have a broad range of knowledge that will serve them in any study they choose. Alum: Dominican was the perfect high school for me. Dominican lives out the Sinsinawa Dominican values of preaching, community, partnership, and justice, instilling these values in the students who attend. A Catholic culture is ever-present, although the student body is about 60% Catholic. In my experience at Dominican, I was able to have friends from diverse backgrounds and experiences which was really enriching and unique for most schools in the Milwaukee area--reflecting the demographic of the part of the city they live in. Going to Dominican High School is the best decision I have made for myself thus far. They have set me up for success in college by helping me every step of the way, whether I needed them to walk me through things step-by-step or needed to work alone. There are staff members I feel comfortable going to for answering questions and some even for asking for life advice. I have formed friendships here that I know I will have for the rest of my life. Alum: I am a recent graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran class of '21 and I had the best times at Wisco! Going into high school I played volleyball and basketball along with being involved in everything music. I loved my time at Wisco because of the different opportunities I was given through the classes and extra curricular clubs and sports we had. My favorite thing however, is how diverse Wisco is. I went to school with kids from a variety of different backgrounds. We had over 10 countries apart of our student body along with other cultures and ethnicities. I learned how to interact with people who come from a very different background and lifestyle than I did and I learned how to live side by side with them and stick up for them when the world tears them apart. Junior: Germantown High School has an outstanding variety of clubs and electives. In fact, Germantown has the only United Sound chapter in the entire state! Another thing Germantown is known for is its rigorous academic standards—which look great on transcripts, but put lots of pressure on students. The work load can cause students to fall behind and engage in unhealthy coping mechanisms. One thing Germantown needs to improve is its bullying policy. They claim that it’s zero-tolerance, yet bullies get away with multiple warnings before administration does anything—clearly violating the terms of “zero-tolerance”. Nevertheless, Germantown does a great job of preparing students to face immense pressure. In competitions like DECA, FBLA, and DI, students from Germantown often end up taking the lead. Senior: This school is one of the best private schools you can attend in Wisconsin. Every Wednesday is an early release day where students leave the school at 1:10 and head home. The teachers in this school allow you to get the best learning experience by thoroughly explaining topics and assignments. As long as you do your work, you won't have piles of work to get done. For every assignment you will get a due date that will be at least 2 days or longer depending on the teacher and the class. You wont have homework that is due a day after getting it and it gives students more time to get their work done. Another thing that is so great about this school is the lunches. The lunches are great! You can either pay for the lunches with lunch money or bring a home lunch. The school consists of more than 12 clubs and is one of the best schools in Wisconsin for athletics and sports. Alum: Trinity Academy truly prepares students for success at the college level. Trinity gives students a strong foundation in essay writing. Many Trinity teachers test in the college style with short answer and essay formats. Most of the middle and high school teachers have doctorates in their respective fields. They are also extremely supportive of their students. Although Trinity is small, its opportunities for leadership and student involvement are plentiful. However, students do need to take the initiative to be involved. Many students play three-season athletics, found clubs, organize fundraisers, act in theatrical productions, etc. Finally, the faith life at Trinity is incredible. The religion courses are phenomenal and give you a strong foundation in Scripture, the Catechism, papal encyclicals, morals, etc. Opportunities to receive the sacraments are available. Senior: I’ve attended Believers in Christ for nine years of my life. Thanks to this school and its procedures in learning I’m am more sagacious Ingres and egress the school. The teachers not only care for your classwork, but they also care for your well-being outside of schooling. I enjoy being enrolled at Believers in Christ because the environment isn’t crowded, the staff is warmhearted and smart, and the school offers me enough time and space to become the best me I could be. If there was one thing I would like to change about the school it would be the amount of physical education we receive. People would think getting more time for study rather than running around would be beneficial, but now that I am a senior and I am soon to be leaving for college I now understand that having the extra curriculum activity would be more beneficial. Senior: The teachers work hard everyday involving christ in everything we do. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we have chapel with the entire school and find ways to connect to the students in our daily lives. Before every class period starts we open with a word of prayer or thought to engage us beforehand. My school also has other ways in which they give great opportunities to students including Career Academy, Art Academy, Honors Academy and Free Enterprise Academy.
