Parent: TVT was tremendously supportive and welcoming as my son transitioned from another school. On the first day, I received an email with a picture of my smiling son and a brief note telling me he's doing great. From that day forward, I can't say enough wonderful things about the administrators, faculty, and all the great school events that brought families onto campus to witness firsthand how our children are learning and growing. My son would tell me he loved his teachers because they were kind and they challenged him every day in all his subjects. Besides math, his other favorite subject is learning Hebrew! They make learning fun! He made new friends quickly and they support each other wholeheartedly. As I attended parent workshops and volunteering opportunities, I was impressed with the advanced curriculum but more importantly, their focus on building great character, addressing the student's emotional needs, and providing a well rounded support system. Senior: I came from a public school and transferred into St. John Bosco during the sophomore year. The school atmosphere was a breathe of fresh air. Teachers and staff have a true sense of care for the students that I didn't find at my previous school. I wasn't a very religious child, but St. John Bosco didn't treat me worse because of this fact. Alum: I was the first of my family to attend Mater Dei and I fell in love with the school. I made so many great memories from the football games to the amazing friends I made. I thought the classes prepared me for college tremendously and made it very easy to transition into college. Although, the tuition is expensive I think every penny was worth it. Sophomore: I came in high school so I didn't get a chance to go to the middle school or elementary school. However, I wish that I did because the teachers and the learning environment are amazing! The teachers like building relationships with their students and it doesn't feel like they are just there to teach you, which makes learning a lot more fun. The school offers lots of sports, too, and from what I've seen, the coaches are amazing! The school also has tons of fun electives that you can do, such as orchestra, band, ceramics, choir, art, etc. One of my favorite parts of Valley Christian High School is all the fun events that they put on: the Harvest Festival, the Sadie's Hawkins Dance, Homecoming, Winter Formal, Junior-Senior Banquet, Prom, and Broadway Showcase (which is a showcase that the entire school puts on, including the elementary and middle school). Middle School Student: I attended Veritas Classical Academy from 2013 to 2016, after coming to the US with my family and father, who attended college here to get a second degree. Back then, I was inexperienced in most aspects, especially English and in developing relationships with other people. Veritas was still a very small school when I attended, and their method of letting both young and old students mingle, and interact with each other was such a shock and very different from what I experienced in Korea. And yet, the method seems to have worked perfectly; I was surprised to find out that bullying and violence was common in most middle-and-high-schools, since I'd never experienced anything of the sort at Veritas. I thought all American schools were that nice! Overall, attending Veritas was a real blessing in my life, because it allowed me to get a good education, which allowed me to open my eyes to the world, think a tier above "other kids", and follow God. Sophomore: Garden Grove High School is filled with diversity. There’s a wide variety of sports and academics to pick from. Majority of the teachers here are some of the best I have ever had. They are extremely hard working and genuinely enjoy doing their job. I’m happy see teacher asking students if they need help and patiently explaining the material to them in multiple ways. Although, the reason I would rate this a four star and not a five star is because there’s many flaws with the way they discipline students. Every year it feels as if the rules get stricter and the fun of high school is stripped away. I agree that we should discipline them if something is done wrong. However, I don’t think it should be that harsh and the students who are actually not doing anything wrong should be punished. Overall, the academics of this school is pretty amazing.... Parent: The 2021/2022 school year has been my family's first year at Spirit and it has been a great year! I have a son in 1st, a daughter in 3rd, and a daughter in 5th grade. This school is a wonderful option for families that want to homeschool but also want the on campus experience for their kids. Spirit does a great job with organizing many fun events throughout the year including field trips, monthly "stay and play" activity-filled after school days, a Thanksgiving party, a Christmas concert, and a talent show. The teachers do an incredible job of staying connected with the parents to keep on track with the curriculum and classwork. My family has really enjoyed connecting with the other families at this school. It is a very unique and wonderful community. There is so much support here.
