Parent: I am the parent of a very active prek boy who loves to be outside, Oak Farm was the perfect fit for us! He can explore the woods and is encouraged to get dirty and learn by experience. The ability for him to work in different environments and not be seated at a desk all day is wonderful! The teachers/staff at Oak Farm all are welcoming and truly care for the students and families! Junior: Carroll is a nice school! It has many opportunities and work-based experience. For example, I'm in an interior design class and that's only one of many amazing electives. I truly believe they really try to help us get the experience we need and they expect a lot of us academically, in a good way. Most of the teachers are really good and try to care as much as they can while teaching 100+ kids a day. Our school is not perfect though. Some of the downsides include the size of the school; we are massive and only growing. It causes a feeling of drowning and feeling lost amongst a bunch sometimes. Others are that because it's a public school costs are cut and watching the teachers try to work around strict schedules is tough. Senior: I have loved my time at CLHS. I made new friends quickly as a freshman, and still am friends with them as a senior. The teachers are wonderful and very helpful. I have also enjoyed my experience as a golfer. I think my best experience has been volunteering in the school office. I enjoy helping people, answering phones while thinking on my feet, and getting to know the faculty and staff. I think one of the worst experiences would be dealing with difficult people. I know I'll have that anywhere I go, but learning to treat difficult people with love is a tough thing to do. I would like to see the facilities continue to improve. Middle School Student: I've had a very overall pleasant experience at Woodside. The cafeteria staff, teachers, and counselors have been extremely helpful and most, if not all of my teachers have been excellent, welcoming, and engaging. The food was extremely varied (before Covid-19) aswell. The one thing I would like to see in the future is better diversity. Alum: Early in high school, if you asked me to rate BCS I would give you 2 out of 5 stars. Now, after finishing my senior year and having the chance to reflect on my 14 years at Blackhawk, I couldn’t be more grateful that my parents kept me in a Christian school, even when I complained about it for a whole year. The teachers at BCS are unlike any other. They have a heart for Jesus and for their students. The teachers go above and beyond prepping us for our next test. I know if I need something years down the road, I can reach out to them and they will lay down whatever they are doing to help. Blackhawk has grown me in so many ways. I know that I’m prepared for college academics because of the way I have been taught. I also know that I’m ready to go out into the real word because the teachers have taught me how to critical think and think on my own. I’ve also grown spiritually and athletically.
