Senior: Southside High school is, in my opinion, a great school. The atmosphere is inviting, the teachers are enthusiastic about their job, and the administration seems like they care for their students. Some downsides, however, include the disregard for the arts and business classes at the school by getting rid of debate classes, art classes, and theater classes. I would also include the fact that not all cases of bullying are handled properly. Although, these flaws could easily be said about any school, not just Southside. Niche User: As someone who participates in athletics at UCA, I feel I have a different perspective than others who attend the school. I enjoy the tight-knit community that is fostered at the school, although it can be hard to become friends at first, once you become a member of Union Christian Academy, you're with them for life. The staff is very nice and cares about the well-being of their students along with how they are performing academically. Alum: I loved my high school experience at Greenwood. The atmosphere of pep rallies and games was something I could never forget. I joined almost every club and cheered throughout my four years there. Being involved is what made me who I am. It brought out a whole other version of myself that I and everyone around me grew to love. I became more outgoing, gained leadership, and started to be more open. The only thing I would change about Greenwood, is the way our teachers wouldn’t allow some things to happen. We would do the smallest things that aren’t even worth getting in trouble for, yet we did. Other than that everything was fun and free. Most of the time I got out of classes because the teachers needed something or because I was done with my work. Middle School Student: Although I am still in middle school, I absolutely love Ramsey. Although the school seems small, it’s really diverse with the people in it. Of course there are some ‘mean’ teachers here and there(probably because of my talkative personality), they will still care for their students as their own children. Speaking of children, there are wide opportunities to make the best people you will ever meet! I can’t speak for other students, but the school has made me feel welcome and does congratulate me if I did something worthy of an award. Sophomore: Northside High school is a very diverse school. Its diversity is what fueled its ideas and compassion. There was never a boring day at Northside Highschool, and many teachers were there to help students in any way possible. The coaching staff at Northside is nothing like I've seen before. I was blessed with the opportunity to meet a coach that brought me to the next level. I will say I wish Northside was more open to change and had more resources at hand. Sometimes Northside would be short-handed, and the teachers seemed overworked. Senior: The experience I had at Van Buren High School is wonderful. I'm currently a senior at VBHS and It is quite sad to leave this school soon. VBHS gave me so many opportunities that I couldn't be more grateful for. The opportunity to support the community through community service, to help my school and those in need, and to support the community through dance and the many activities and clubs I'm involved in. Not only have they provided so many opportunities, but they provided the best possible education I could ask for. There is this welcoming and calming atmosphere when you walk into VBHS. The teachers and staff members at VBHS show so much compassion for students. . The teachers have helped me with every little problem, from helping with college essays to opening a locker. There is this never-ending love, encouragement, and dedicaiton from the teachers. Every day I attend school hopeful and ready to learn something new. Senior: The future is one of the best schools in Fort smith. Future is more of a hands-on and real-world learning school. On Wednesday there are internships. The internship process consists of finding a place/occupation that interests you, then calling them and explaining why you called then asking for a shadow day. Then within the next week or two of shadowing them, you proceed to ask about interning with them. The future school also does exhibitions. Exhibitions are the students showing off what they have learned in class, WATC and outside of school. This happens twice a year once a semester at the end. The school is also more of a student based place as well. The students can pitch their ideas to the staff and usually, they accept it and put it into action. The staff also is very encouraging and supportive when a student has an idea or project.
