Parent: My son had a terrific experience starting with 2 yrs in the awesome preK through graduation from 4th grade. Westshire has all the benefits of a small school, yet, as part of a larger PK-12 district, it offers opportunities usually found only at larger schools. The teachers were masters at keeping the learning fun while meeting each child’s individual needs. My son entered kindergarten already reading. As the teacher met with him over lunch one day a week, he become a fluent reader and discovered the joys of chapter books. Meanwhile the teacher’s expert mix of literacy center games, phonic support through the Fundations curriculum, and a full immersion in quality literature had every child reading by the end of kindergarten. By 3rd grade they were ALL reading at grade level. My son loved making rockets, learning about wildlife, and playing sports in the afterschool program. As a mom who often has to work long hours, the late bus was a huge help as well.

Senior: Rivendell is a great school with a changing curriculum. It centers the students primarily and works to make well-rounded graduates that are prepared for college. It could do better on some policies and it is not very diverse. Most teachers want you to succeed... some others seem like they’re purely there for pay.
