Senior: Northwest Early College High School is unique, unlike many others due to its small size and campus. It is composed of about 350 students in total. As a result of my school's size, everyone knows one another and can form family-like connections with not only each other but with the teachers and staff. Being able to form these connections was always something that I really enjoyed because I have had the opportunity to make lifelong connections. One of the worst parts of my experience at NWECHS was the type of physical campus we had. The school is composed of around 28 portables and one small multipurpose building which was the cafeteria. There were no hallways so I constantly endured the heat, cold, rain, wind and etc while trying to get from class to class. Alum: I transferred into Franklin my Junior year of high school and it was the best decision I ever made! Although for the first semester I didn’t have any friends, once I made them - they become my family; people I will cherish forever! The teachers and the education I received was phenomenal! I built personal connections with a few of my teachers and was challenged by the work they put in front of me! I say all of this because the high school I was at prior to Franklin was filled with hate, mistreatment, and teachers who refused to stick up for me or believe in me, but Franklin restored all of that inside of me and so much more!... Senior: Eastwood High School is like no other. I had come to the school for my sophomore year, and I was nervous for a fresh start because I didn't know anyone. But, the school is so incredibly full of spirit and pride. The students and staff are so eager to introduce newcomers, and they helped me a ton! I have made so many friends and countless memories. The classes are challenging sometimes, but that's what makes it worth it. Eastwood pushes its students to be the best version of themselves they can be. Senior: I had a good high school experience at Coronado. I was excited to go to school everyday, which lets me know that Coronado is a good school. The highlight of my high school career was meeting some of the most amazing teachers. I have had a few teachers at Coronado that I know I will remember for the rest of my life. These teachers always provided me with support and pushed me to achieve academic excellence. The worst part was probably the construction. My school has been under construction for four years now. It was just quite distracting. You could always hear the sounds of drilling, tractors, and accidental fire alarms. The construction should be finished by next year, but it was always an inconvenience during my time at Coronado. I am grateful for the quality high school education I received. Senior: I thoroughly enjoyed spending all four years of high school at this establishment. A lot of people doubt the potential inside of this school, and a lot of rumors are spread about the crazy things that go on, but the wild choices made by teens is not very controllable. What I found at Hanks are passionate teachers, coaches, and students that come together to teach each other when it matters most. Even though it may sound like an exaggeration, I feel that the teachers at Hanks have a deepness that is hard to find so often as I did in one place. In many classes, I have found lessons from people who care about teaching beyond the curriculum and into life. Another thing to admire about this school is the legacy it’s extracurriculars create. Senior: At Chapin High School, I certainly enjoy the student organizations and how involved they want their students to be in school and in the community. In fact, I personally think it's an excellent idea to involve others to develop new ideas, learn new skills, and strive for greater achievement. Additionally, the experience I've had at Chapin has been good. The teachers are great! The teachers I have this year are very respectful to me, they are polite and encourage me to always do better. If i need someone to talk to, it would definitely be the ones I trust. On the other hand, the school culture is average. It would be great to have a variety of after-school activities for their students. Maybe more students will get involved and feel more welcomed on our campus. Senior: I nervous to go into such a big school with almost 1,000 students attending, but after the first week it wasn't so bad. When I was getting situated into my classes, all me teachers were very nice and understanding to all my circumstances. At the beginning of the year I was still very shy and only had one friend but in the second semester I talked with more people and came out of my junior year with more than five friends which is surprising even for me. I've created strong bonds with the people around me and the teachers there as well. I curriculum was challenging enough for me to push myself but not to overwhelm me. I would like to see the schedule change because we do get out a little later than most schools. Senior: The best part of my high school career here at Bel Air High School is the community here. It’s truly a unique experience to be apart of such a helpful and empowering community where we all focus on the kindness we can spread to others. It’s not nearly as negative and competitive as other high schools in the area, and I truly respect that experience while at this high school. Especially since I was at a highly competitive middle school. This is the opposite in the most positive environment possible. My least favorite thing about our environment is the economic instability we have in our school system. We’re on the poorer side of the spectrum of high schools in the area, and even though it keeps us humble, it also holds us as a high school back. This can impede on our classrooms being built, or our materials being distributed, putting a halt on our potential to truly learn. Overall, a great experience with a positive attitude.... Freshman: My experience at Young Women's STEAM Research and Preparatory Academy has been out of this world. I have made some amazing friends, and had the opportunity to take AP classes as a freshmen. This school has created a rich learning environment filled with amazing teachers and staff. We are always working together in the classroom. No day is the same at this school, teachers work hard and find new things for us to do! All the students are being put in real life situations for example, group projects. Us students are learning and working together, my classmates and I will work with everyone in the classroom so we all have relationships with each other. I adore my colleagues at this school and I am very grateful for the group of friends I have found here. If anything had to change, I would say that this school needs to be treated well and with respect. Senior: Amazing opportunuities, great teachers and professors, and overall prepared me for college! The campus overs STEM, PLTW, and Early college programs with a wide range of extracurricular activities that includes both athletics, academics, and the arts. The School has recieved multiple recognititions in their programs that range from the local to state levels of competitions. I was able to take dual credit classes and earned 60 hours to receive my assosciates degree in partnership with the El Paso Community College. The teachers are qualified with masters degrees that allow them provide these dual credit classes on the campus itself. I did not have to travel the community college campus to take my classes! My teachers provided the opportunities and challenges to prepare me for my college classes as I will be starting my junior year at the University of Texas at El Paso.
