Senior: East Mountain High School is a preparatory school that intends to get its students ready for college classes. I love how small my school is and the teacher-to-student ratio. This has helped me get the extra tutoring and grow strong relationships with teachers. Since my school is located in the Sandia Mountains, I feel very safe and happy to be out in nature. I do wish that our school did have a cafeteria, which would increase social interactions and keep from us sitting on the ground. I also wish that we had more diversity in our student ethnicity. Most of our school is White. I also feel like our campus could use a little renovation since we are in big trailers for school. Junior: This school is so amazing! Yes it's smaller that the bigger high schools in the city, but the classes, teachers, admin, and staff are so much better! There are only about 50 students per grade which allows for smaller classes. These small classes grant the ability to have more one on one time with teachers and staff. All the teachers are specially picked and have excellent training. Also because our school is small, you never get lost. We are also combined with Career Enrichment Center (CEC), which provides us with incredible career classes like World Languages, EMT, Nursing Program, Forensic Science, Vet Med, and so much more!... Senior: Estancia Valley Classical Academy has been a wonderful school to attend. Policies are consistent and easy to understand, teachers are exceptional and the school culture is professional and pleasant. I would love to see a wider variety of classes, especially foreign languages! I’d also be interested in more practical classes like home economics. I appreciate that one math and one science credit are open and allow students to start exploring specialized interests while still in high school. Scheduling and transferring can be an arduous process but has greatly improved over the past few years as far as I can tell. Senior: My experience with New Futures was great. What I liked about New Futures is it was a school made for pregnant young teens and young mothers. This school gave many young students with babies hope. Just because we had kids at a young age doesn't mean our life is over or we won't have a future. What I would like to see change about New Futures is making students there own locked shelves for there items like for their babies car seat, diaper bag and other items they might bring. There has been many incidents of missing and stealing items. I also would like this school to have many other opportunities of classes because this school doesn't have AP or duel credit classes. Alum: I graduated in 2022, I’ve attended this school since I was in 7th grade. This school has taught me so much about my indigenous culture, my language and other activities. NACA helps you prepare for college, and teaches you to prepare for life after high school also. I love this school, and I really recommend indigenous students to attend this school, they will teach you your language, have clubs and activities that are apart of your culture like traditional dancing, singing, making traditional food, etc...
