Parent: We could not be more thrilled with our choice to send our daughter to school at Luhi! The small class sizes, engaged staff and nurturing environment have really allowed our daughter to flourish. Her teachers have really gotten to know her, which has made her feel very comfortable. Alum: It was an amazing 4 years. Everyone there including the students, staff, and faculty were so kind and caring. I made wonderful friends who I will be friends with for a life time. I gained a lot of experience going to Mepham. I got the opportunity to learn to drive there, I was able to join sports and gain insight to a student athletes life. I also made many network connections with my peers and teachers from the clubs I got to join like the lions club where we volunteered, key club where we volunteered also or art club where we learned different forms of art like sculpting or painting. Junior: North Shore Hebrew Academy has made my high school experience one that I will never forget. There is such great diversity, with students coming from several different communities, and yet there is such a strong sense of unity among us. When I first began high school, I was nervous that it would be difficult both socially and academically, but I was relieved to find myself in a warm and welcoming environment. North Shore offers endless clubs and ways to be a part of this school and I am so glad I was able to involve myself in a series of extracurricular activities, each pertaining to my interests. In addition, I feel that my teachers here at North Shore truly have my best interests at heart and that each of them is dedicated to challenging their students in a productive and intellectual manner. Parent: I have 3 children at SSLI. My children have all attended since Kindergarten. One is in elementary school, one is in middle school, and, one is in high school. I love the school. The class sizes are small and the teachers truly care about the students' well-being: academically; socially; and, emotionally. The teachers are all approachable. If a student needs extra help in a subject, it is provided. Also, the teachers regularly communicate with the parents. In addition to an excellent secular academic program and Jewish Studies program, the students are taught personal responsibility, accountability, compassion, and kindness. They are taught how to become leaders and how to individually take steps to make the world a better place. This is one of the special things that sets SSLI apart from other schools. Senior: Calhoun has amazing teachers that will work wiith you to help you do well! There are many opportunities to be involved in sports or other activities such as clubs both during school hours or after school hours. Parent: As a parent, hands down the best school we’ve sent our kids to. We’ve been switching schools a lot (private schools) and decided to give public a chance. Amazing teachers and students, and good curriculum. However, I’m a little disappointed in the elective choices. They only offer two high school courses for 8th graders and no AP’s for their freshmen year. Senior: As a soon to graduate senior, I have had all the resources needed to succeed and supportive teachers to help me on the way. The school’s staff is great and the majority of the teachers are cool, most more than not. Ive had access to state of the art technology and facilities. The only thing holding me back from giving a full 5 stars is the fact that the seniors have felt a bit neglected this year due to senior privileges being loosely enforced, if even so, such as senior parking being limited due to not cracking down on juniors parking, a senior cafe that any grade level has access to; seniors being forced to eat lunch in a hallway instead of their own cafeteria; and biggest of all, no senior trip. The school advertises their Italy pilgrimage strongly but it only applies to the chorus which the majority is not involved in. Senior: Chaminade High School is a Catholic school in Mineola, New York. It is a very prestigious school that offers many activities and athletics to add on to the experience. I feel it is one of the top schools in the country as it has a educational building, a unique science building, a three floor gym, and an amazing athletic center. Senior: My last year being here I have learned that the teachers are almost t like students. They were not prepared to use technology even though they are supposed to be teaching us about it. Most of the teachers have not changed their curriculum and make many of the students, specifically females, uncortable within the classrooms and hallways. Freshman: I am currently a freshman at Sacred Heart Academy and overall it has been an honor going to this school and being a part of the community. Sacred Heart is an amazing school for girls to challenge themselves hence the fact that it's a college predatory high school. When asked to describe a good school most people say that they have amazing teachers and nice friends but I can say that my school has a curriculum based on teaching us and stimulating our brains to live in the real world. The many subjects introduce us to the diverseness of the world. Alongside education, Sacred Heart is a great place to make friends and socialize while staying on top of school work. We have a large range of sports, clubs, and extracurriculars that are a great way to find friends that you have similarities.
