Parent: We chose WMA for its strong academic reputation noted for intelligent, caring faculty, a wonderful curriculum and diverse extracurricular activities but ended up getting far more! Our impression is that WMA somehow magically selects talented students from caring families creating an amazing student body full of smart but thoughtful human beings. This community quickly becomes a little family where the students support each other & feel cared for by faculty. WMA definitely has something for everyone. Not only was our son exposed to a vast array of Sports: Rugby, Water polo, Football and the Arts: Music/Theater but a myriad of other wonderful things. Most importantly though is the exceptional student body. It’s a nice balance between a “Mini United Nations feel” & Local Community Vibe blending perfectly students from this rural New England area and from across the globe. Parent: While sending my daughter to study abroad, I worried about her life and academics very much. However, the teachers and dorm parents in this school proved that my choice is correct! With the combined efforts, the school as a whole improved our daughters physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. This year, my kid is accepted by the Boston University, and I'm so proud of her! Senior: Teachers work hard to help you and they are very willing to provide extra support outside of class. Many opportunities for extracurricular and service events. School supplies are usually available and there are mental health and college guidance resources available. Overall, good school! Parent: WOW, is all I can say about HCSS West! As a parent, we all want the best for our children but lets face it, it may not be achieved in a public school setting. For my child, it definitely wasn't and was looking for a new environment where he wasn't labeled any more. I did my research which showed both good & bad reviews. We went for a tour and talked to people. Since he was almost failing his core classes, he was miserable, and he fought every time he had to get ready for school, I figured what was the worst thing that could happen with the change? I just knew it was stressful and a miserable way to start every day. Day one, he came home and said he loved it which brought tears to my eyes. Never had we heard anything like that from his mouth! Never had we seen excitement to go to school! Never had we seen him make honor roll! Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this to happen but I am so happy it did. Senior: It's great for academics even if it's hard. The teachers are great because they are very invested in your education and genuinely care about you; they're willing to accommodate your needs and talk to you at any hour if you need something. The food is okay. They mainly serve pizza and chicken patties. My only complaint is that the students are very stuck up and cliquey so that its difficult to make friends. The sports are pretty good but they always get underfunded since hockey takes the main priority, which makes sense because it's the only D1 team. Still kinda sucks. The administration is bad. They don't communicate with other parts of the school and are very strict so their lack of management rubs off on your daily activities. Speaking of daily activities, it's pretty fun at Pope because they always have something going on and try to give you an easy day/day-off every couple of weeks with either a retreat or remote day due to a teacher's meeting. Parent: We were nervous about changing to PVCA, but everything we were nervous about has been addressed and we couldn’t be more happy with the school. We have 3 kids attending, the teachers have been amazingly responsive and love our kids just as much as we do! The academics are right on and as an educator myself, I am so happy with the learning taking place. My kids are safe, comfortable, happy and learning and growing in the Lord. Administration has been quick to respond and are forward thinking while upholding moral and ethical Christ centered values. My kids get more electives than they would in public schools in a culturally and linguistically diverse community! It’s such a warm welcoming community! Senior: The academics are ok at our school we have some ap and such just not crazy high level classes. The teachers are subpar some are very useful and helpful and can be really good friends to there students but on the other hand some teachers are just so disrespectful to students and do not teach very well at all. We have a ton of clubs and sports, they are always adding more clubs for people with different interest. I did not feel ready for college at all tho since we are not even doing things for college and it is my senior year. For example in English class instead of writing our college essays we are reading a book. Safety wise I do not think it is very safe since the ceilings have wholes in them and water drips through them and there has been more than a few students who have slipped and fell from the water on the floor.... Senior: I had a very good experience at Somers High School. When I went into my freshman year I was very nervous, but all of my teachers showed me there was nothing to be nervous about. As I went into my sophomore year I was feeling so much better about my surroundings, but then the pandemic hit. Online school for sophomore year and part of junior year was very stressful, but my teachers did all they could to help manage the stress. I play two sports for the school and both of those programs are excellent. All of the coaches were very welcoming and made me enjoy going to practice everyday. Our student body is very involved in going to support all of the teams and have lots of school spirit. For many soccer games the student body section always had a theme like USA, red-out, etc. Overall my personal experience at Somers High School was one I will always remember.... Read 110 reviews

Senior: BACPS is the place to go if you want a one-on-one connection with your teachers. Allowing you to get a better grasp of any subject being discussed or even if you just want extra practice. Not only that it is also great if you like a smaller environment. Which is great. This school is a family. Everyone is in touch, respect is a huge thing, discipline is also another huge goal on our list. We follow a system of HOS's 5 of them. Senior: This school offers many opportunities for their student's including dual enrollment at Holyoke Community College and Elms College. The dual enrollment program pays for the college courses, books and provides transportation. The faculty and administrators form close bonds to their students and the environment is very supportive. Although Paulo offers many opportunities, students have to be proactive and seek them for themselves. The administration also encourages student's to use their voice and stand up for what they believe in. Students are able to lead walkouts and challenge current policies in our government.
