Coal City High School
#156 Best Public High Schools in Illinois
- Coal City Community Unit School District No. 1, IL
Alum: Most of the teachers at CCHS are really invested in student growth and success. I feel like I received a quality education and was able to enjoy high school in all of its aspects. It was really nice going to a small school like Coal City. I felt safe at school and was familiar with most of the student body, so it wasn't difficult to get involved and make the most of my high school experience.

Guerin College Preparatory High School
- Private School
- River Grove, IL
Parent: My child is currently a sophomre. She had no problems transitioning from a public grade school to Guerin. She is taking honors/AP classes that definatly challenge her. Teachers have been available to encourage and offer help when needed. Scholarships are awarded to students in the Nolan program and financial aide is also available to apply for. I have been told the sports programs/teams did not have a good reputation a few years ago but the team my daughter plays on is thriving. I absolutly Love this coaching staff (they may be new). Thus far they all have been very commited in seeing that the girls get the training they need and have fun as a team. I also see that many other Guerin teams have been accomplishing great things. My daughter is at school more than she is at home due to clubs, sports, or volunteering. The school is very diverse and exactly what she was looking for. She has made friends with kids of different cultures and interests.

Senior: My experience at Reed-Custer has been all I could ever ask for it to be. Teachers are helpful and invested in students lives. They truly care about students; you can count on getting help before or after school when having trouble just about any day. Reed-Custer offers many extracurricular clubs and activities that draw in people of all interests. The school faces the same problems as big schools, but the administration does its best to take care of the problems quickly and efficiently.

Senior: I love going to school! I am on student council so when I want to make a change, i am able to state my opinion. I made the change of adding a microwave to the cafeteria. Student council really tries to make school fun and enjoyable.
