Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Senior: I love the community at East. The teachers are willing to help and want to see their students thrive and be successful. As a community, we talk about race and gender, and we have clubs for people from every background. If there's not a club there already, you can create one! East combines tradition and modern-day culture in a lovely blend while all the while focusing on academics. Senior: I have had an excellent highschool experience at FCA. The staff are amazing and genuinely care about each student. There has always been a welcoming and fun atmosphere with the student body . The school has a great stem program along with other extra curricular activities such as drama, music, and a variety of sports. The only thing I would change would be to update the facility . Parent: Last year, my son in kindergarten, and daughter in first grade, were both falling behind in public school. My daughter still didn’t know all her letter sounds and could barely read or write full words. Growing up, my husband and I both attended a Christian School and knew Belleview could positively impact our kids, both academically and spiritually. We found Belleview and enrolled the kids immediately. By April of that same school year, the results of the Stanford Achievement Test indicated that my daughter had reached a near 7th grade reading comprehension level. This year, she is earning an A+ in Spelling and Phonics and my son has excelled in Math and Science. Both of them continue to thrive at Belleview and are growing in their relationship with the Lord! Senior: Very good school with rigurous and challenging courses. Supportive and attentive staff members as well as good school mates. Lots of club and sports opportunities and easy access to resources. I haven't had any issues with the school, and I have been going to Conservatory Green since middle school. Built really good relationships with other students and was given lots of good opportunities, especially when it comes to college. They are very big on college readiness and start preparing you for it as early as 6th grade. They have lots of different programs and field trips that give you the opportunity to connect with different colleges and to just get a feel for the college life. There is a lot of diversity, and all cultures are celebrated as well as respected. The students usually get along very well. Junior: Flatirons Academy (previously Cornerstone Christian Academy when I arrived there) had its pros and cons. It was what I needed in order to grow academically, emotionally, and mentally. It introduced me to so many amazing teachers and staff who weren’t afraid to go above and beyond to care for their students. I got the chance to grow, learn, and make new experiences. Overall, the school served its purpose for me. I had my hard moments, I had some boring ones, and I had some amazing times from a community that wanted to bring the best to the table. I also had some less than exemplary teachers, but they did their best and I’m thankful for the experience it taught me. Also, that’s a part of all schools, so it’s not too surprising. Parent: I have been a teacher at this school for 19 years and my daughter has been a student for 11 years (since PreK). We both love our school. It's not perfect. If you are looking for a perfect school, it doesn't exist. But I can tell you from an insider's perspective, everyone who works in our buildings gives their all and wants each student to not only achieve academically, but to be a well rounded, happy individual. I love being part of a charter school because the status quo never has to stay. Often parents and staff spearhead positive change. We don't have near as many hoops to jump through. We have an incredible amount of parent support and volunteering. The kids at our school are truly great kids. There is no perfect school and there are plenty of kids here making poor choices, just like everywhere. Senior: Denver School of Innovation and Sustainable Design changed my life, for the good. It provided me with a multitude of resources that helped me prepare for college. I graduated with three college credits; more than most students I know who went to a traditional high school. The teachers build relationships with every student that walks in their classroom. I enjoyed every single one of my classes. Although the school doesn’t provide many extracurricular activities it makes up for it by having such an amazing environment. Parent: We love Isabella Bird Community School. My 2nd grader has been there since ECE-4 and my 4 year old tested into the early kindergarten program. The school has been a great fit for both of my kids. They are each met where they are academically and then pushed on their individual strengths and supported in their weak spots. We love the direction of the GT program, the dedicated resources of support, and the school community. From a parent perspective, I love the sense of community, volunteer opportunities, and parent/teacher involvement. The school has an amazing group of parent volunteers who serve as classroom parents to support the teacher, which allows for more instruction to our kiddos. The classroom parents help organize events, classroom parties, refill classrooms snacks, and send messaging to keep other parents in the loop. Senior: My experience was Victory Prep Academy was one I will remember for the rest of my life! The teachers as well as the students are the most kind and understanding people. There was never a time I felt disrespected or unsafe. Everyone in that building is like a family and there isn't another high school I would have preferred to go to. Although there isn't a variety of sports and outside activities at VPA, I did my part and went to all the games I was able to show my school spirit that way. The best part about my high school is that its a very small school and I was surrounded by classmates I have known since first grade. Freshman: Conservatory Green is a great place to meet amazing friends and staff. It has rigorous courses that will well prepare you for college. This school will prepare you for any staderdized test that you will have to take in the future. You will start taking the PSAT starting from freshmen year three times in a school year in order to well prepare you for the real SAT in junior year. Clubs and activities is also another opportunity to get involved. They have great variety of clubs and activities you can be involves in that will look great in your college resume, but if there is something specific you are looking for that isn't in the school it is as simple as filling out a piece of paper in order to start the club you wish.
