Senior: Wonderful teachers who take the time to get to know and understand their students. On the off-chance, there is an instructor who is less-than-satisfactory for you, the counselors are wonderful at placing you where you can learn best. There are a lot of interesting courses and opportunities for whatever step you may be in your education. This is a school children actually want to attend, with good kids and sometimes over the top school spirit. Senior: I think that Pleasant Valley High School (PVHS) is a very good school with it's excellent academic program, dedicated teachers, and great career pathway opportunities! The reason I rated it "very good" instead of "excellent" is that the overall structure of the school needs improvement. It is an old campus and therefore has some air and heater problems as well was leakage when it is pouring rain. However, while school is not in session right now it is getting a lot of construction done which will hopefully fix those problems. All in all, I am glad to go to this school!... Read 262 reviews

Senior: CORE Butte is a cool high school! It’s a Charter School that treats you like a person. My entire education was shaped just for me,while still fitting in and meeting all requirements to get me accepted into a 4 year CAlifornia university! I was able to take classes at our local junior college from my freshman year on. It’s almost like college and high school all rolled up into one! I was an officer on my FFA officer team and went to proms, played sports, basically, all the things regular high schools have but Only had classes a couple of days a week. Parent: I have two kids at Chico Country Day and have had some exposure to most of the elementary/jr high schools in the area. I believe Chico Country Day is hands-down the best school in Chico. The teachers and staff are outstanding. Front office staff are tremendously organized, helpful, and caring. Classrooms are friendly and flexible. Parents are supportive and very involved. Enriching after-school activities (sports, music, etc.) Exhibition projects every year allow kids to practice public speaking, presentations, creativity, and teamwork. Our family appreciates the very limited amount of homework (if any at all) brought home. It allows kids to relax or focus on extracurricular activities after school, rather than stress about homework all evening, which is often the feedback I hear from parents with kids at other schools. Whenever I'm on campus, I look around and see happy, energetic kids and staff. My kids are excited to go to school and come home with smiles on their faces every day.... Read 2 reviews

Alum: Hearthstone has a good amount of extracurricular classes and the teachers I encountered were very enthusiastic about what they were teaching. I took a horticulture class and the teacher was very hands on and was good at making tiring tasks seem fun, like when we planted a few trees and bushes in the summer heat he kept us interested while we worked. Senior: This school is perfect for a fresh start. The teachers and other staff are absolutely amazing. Mental health is just as important as education at this school. The teachers are on top of keeping students on track to graduate. They help get you ready for jobs and the real world ahead. I've been to two other highschools before this one and I've never felt welcomed there. Fair View however is very welcoming. You're a priority at this school and I can't say that about other schools I've been too. You're family here. You're taken care of here. You're HEARD hear. You're treated as an equal instead of having a hierarchy in the school with the teachers. Our school motto is "Show up, Be cool, and Take care of Business" That's exactly what determined students do at this school. If I could've gone to this school from the start I would've.
