Parent: I can't believe the incredible transformation my daughter has made in her first year at Kent Denver. Her 6th grade experience continued her positive academic trajectory, in tandem with developing communication and social-emotional skills. It has been amazing to watch her build her confidence, both inside and outside of the classroom. Parent: I have been a parent at SMA for the past nine years. St. Mary's Academy (SMA) welcomed my three grade school children with open arms when we moved to Colorado. I can't way enough about the warmth of this community and the confidence the school instilled in my three children. Junior: I've been enrolled here since freshman year. In my experience, the teachers are respectful and try their hardest to help their students succeed (there are some exceptions but they are rare), there are many activities and clubs are diverse, and we have no shortage of unique programs such as the EPIC Medical Careers class and other niche subjects such as horticulture and astronomy. Our school is consistently one of the best for sports, and there are some aspects that help students feel more prepared for life in college such as self scheduling and having to walk across large campuses to get to their class. Of course, there are some things that do need work; such as the fact that most students (including myself) feel overworked most of the time, especially without a block schedule (most colleges and other CC high schools have one), but in general, this school is one that will allow your student many opportunities to succeed and get the support that they need.... Alum: Was a solid college preparatory experience. VERY dominantly white, limited resources for lgbtq+ peoples; not accepting of trans identities. Solid resources for applying for colleges, counsellors were good at what they do. Teachers were mostly good with some bad apples mixed in to avoid (ask an upperclassman or alumni). Food was good when I first started but got cheaper and worse over time; they are very willing to flake out on that end. VERY high variety of clubs, whatever you want to do they most likely have it, though it's hard to get involved in the larger ones, such as robotics or theater due to large volume of students. Obviously very religious, theology classes are required and integrated into the main curriculum. Occasional mass attendance required. Bear these in mind before applying. Not for everyone, but wealthy white individuals will likely have a smooth experience. Be wary of it's general low diversity. If you care mostly about college prep, very solid pick.... Senior: The teachers at Dsst: Byers High School become close friends/family. I love that my teachers cared for each and one of my classmates, and took the time to know us personally. This type of relationship is great, since it makes it easier to ask for help and better advocate for yourself. To add on, there are many options for classes to take in order for each student to be challenged at a reasonable level. There are many activities and extracurriculars to join, and even opportunities to start your own club! Here at Byers inclusivity and respect are highly encouraged, there are many affinity/cultural clubs open to the whole student body. Middle School Student: Ive attended since fourth grade, and Id like to begin discussing the application process. Its difficult to get into this school unless you have a sibling who has attended or is presently attending at Challenge. Obtaining a recommendation letter from your current school's teacher is also an easier option to gain admission to the school. When it comes to clubs, the school is fiercely competitive, particularly in lego robotics, TSA(Technology Student Association), Chess, and Math Club. The school places a lot of emphasis on writing and math. However, I wish the school would have its own sports team because I know a lot of athletes that go to different places to participate in sports. This school welcomes diversity, and kids who join clubs like WEB, PACK players, and another one that I cant recall right now get to lead assemblies that discuss topics that children should be aware of(eg: bullying). Sophomore: DJDSis the most amazing school, home, family, and community. Going to this school has allowed me to flourish in ways that could never be replicated anywhere else. Secularly, the teachers are so invested in my learning and will always find a time to meet with me to go over stuff and genuinely want me to succeed. In regards to the Judaic program, It has allowed me to discover God and spirituality, without ever telling me what I should believe. The classesmerely push you to challenge your own beliefs and think deeply about the subject so every student can benifit.Most importantly, DJDS has given me my second family I can walk down the hallway everyday and be surrounded by people I can count on. DJDS transformed me from a timid 6th grader who was nervous to ask a teacher to fix my grade. Sophomore: Cherokee Trail is the best high school. We just finished an awesome homecoming week and CT spirit was amazing. There are so many resources, so you never feel like you don't have anyone to talk to or feel like you can't get help, because you can. The teachers are so nice and they're actually good a getting the message across. They are even one of the schools that have an International Baccalaureate program (IB). They also offer AP, Honors, and CE courses, to challenge yourself. There are so many clubs and activities you can get involved in, there really is something for everyone. Senior: I really enjoyed my time at Mullen! Overall, I think mullen is a great school. There is a loving community of peers and teachers. Mullen also is extremely helpful with the college process and made it much less stressful. I think schools can always improve and one of the only things I wish Mullen did different was offer more elective classes like fashion design or American Sign Language. Mullen is coming out with more elective options for next school year however I just never got to experience that. Alum: Born and raised in Indonesia, my family and I packed everything we had and moved to the land of dreamers by the end of 2018. I finished my senior year at Arapahoe High School in Colorado. Language was obviously an issue, but all of the teachers and staff made sure that my sister and I felt included in the community. I participated in a volunteering activity my first year in the U.S.. Partnering with the Big Idea Project, my classmates and I raised and donated a grand total of $1,508 to Urban Peak, a homeless shelter for teenagers. Arapahoe is a great high school that offers countless opportunities for its students and will assist them in their journey. I also had the chance to take an AP class at one of the best community colleges in Colorado with the help of my teacher and ended up pursuing my associate's at this college.
