Alum: Was a solid college preparatory experience. VERY dominantly white, limited resources for lgbtq+ peoples; not accepting of trans identities. Solid resources for applying for colleges, counsellors were good at what they do. Teachers were mostly good with some bad apples mixed in to avoid (ask an upperclassman or alumni). Food was good when I first started but got cheaper and worse over time; they are very willing to flake out on that end. VERY high variety of clubs, whatever you want to do they most likely have it, though it's hard to get involved in the larger ones, such as robotics or theater due to large volume of students. Obviously very religious, theology classes are required and integrated into the main curriculum. Occasional mass attendance required. Bear these in mind before applying. Not for everyone, but wealthy white individuals will likely have a smooth experience. Be wary of it's general low diversity. If you care mostly about college prep, very solid pick.... Junior: Valor Christian High School is a private school. Valor is a smaller school, with the average class size of approximately 250-300 students. Valor has a very strong music, drama, dance and arts programs within its conservatory. Valor also offers a strong Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) and college preparatory classes. Unlike local high schools, Valor does not allow freshman to take AP classes unless you have an exception (e.g., math or language placement at the AP level). As a Christian school, 3 years of bible classes are required as part of the curriculum. For those seeking to boost their GPA with Honors, AP or Dual-Credit classes, note that there are no such offerings for the required bible classes or freshman seminar class. Parent: Our son is a graduating senior (2023) and we can't be happier at STEM. He was part of the first elementary class (grade 5) and has been at STEM ever since. This has allowed him to develop close friendships with peers, great relationships with teachers and staff, and a solid career path at age 17. He will actually graduate from college with an Associate's degree in Cybersecurity before he graduates from high school! This was made possible with participation in P-Tech and the Concurrent Enrollment programs. He is now well-prepared for college and for life. Sophomore: I actually went to Colorado Early Colleges Inverness but they had no option for that campus. I really enjoyed going to high school there. The student body is tiny but I like that it gives you an opportunity to know all of the students a little bit. The faculty is fantastic! Best of all, the whole purpose of the school is to graduate all of their students with Associates degrees. We can take college classes on campus or we can take them directly from Arapahoe Community College. This is an amazing opportunity for students who will pursue a degree after high school.... Senior: I absolutely loved Lutheran High School! I have been blessed to go there for the past four years, and every day I am grateful that I decided to attend this school. I wanted a smaller school with a wonderful community, and Lutheran has just that. The teachers are absolutely incredible and I was able to grow a genuine relationship with them. Parent: This school has been an answer to our prayers. Our eldest child’s unique emotional-social needs are being met and coached. Academically, both our children receive quality instruction; these teachers care and are responsive to parent input and concern. It has been a rough year in terms of school funding and offering teachers competitive salaries, yet the admin and teachers are diligently pressing on. We are so grateful for that. Sophomore: Currently at Castle View High School we have a 4 class schedule. This schedule makes it able to have less homework for classes and able to take multiple levels of different courses in the same school year. However next school year that will be changing. The school will be moving to a severn class schedule. This schedule will open the opportunity for students that are in 11th or 12th grade to take classes at other schools that Castle View does not offer. Senior: I really enjoyed my experience with teachers, most were very qualified and helped me succeed. I also enjoyed my experience with the extracurriculars, including theatre, NEHS, NHS, and Link Crew. The only reason that it doesn't get the full 5 stars is that some of the people I have encountered have been impossibly rude. They have been disrespectful to my person and to my friends which is simply not okay in my book.
