Senior: Hinsdale Central High School is a great place for students to grow academically, socially, and personally. The teachers here are excellent and push you past your limits. The classes are challenging, and sometimes they make you want to quit. However, you’ll reap immense benefits if you just stick through it. The only thing I would change about this school is for the guidance counselors to believe more in their students. Generally speaking, the counselors at this school are wonderful, intelligent, and very helpful. Alum: I transferred to LT during my sophomore year and I wasn't expecting to join such a wonderful community. My teachers were very caring and helpful in accommodating me during this transition. LT has numerous interesting clubs for students to join and electives that help prepare students or inspire students for their future careers. My previous classes helped prepare me for the SAT and ACT, but also college. The grading system is not the best since grades are mainly based on test scores and a lot of students struggle with this. However, retake options are helpful. Parents are also very involved in the community. For prom, money was raised to get coach buses to take students to prom and back safely. Senior: I love Benet! It is a place that is focused on academics and athletics, but it is also a place full of awesome people and teachers who genuinely care about the students. While the work load can be overwhelming and sometimes very stressful, it is honestly a place that follows the rule "work hard play hard". For every hard or challenging part that Benet has to offer, there is 5 more extracurricular activities or clubs to enjoy yourself in. Senior: Will be graduating from here in 2022. Came here from a very small, conservative private school, and Hinsdale South was such a welcome change. We may be small, but the community here is so inclusive and amazing. The teachers care about our wellbeing, and I felt I could reach out to any of my teachers whenever I had a problem, academic or not. Academics are also very good, but it's up to you to push yourself (very good prep for college!). Since we are pretty small, you get to know (almost) everyone in your grade pretty quickly, which I find helpful in remaining close with my peers. It's easy to find people from every background, which cannot be said for our sister school (HC). For the most part, students are very down-to-earth, and the teachers have strong South Pride! Parent: Montini is an outstanding high school, with an excellent prinicipal who is vested in the success of all students. The teachers are largely caring and supportive of the students, the resources are outstanding, and the students are a close-knit group who care about and support each other. Academics are rigorous, school spirit is high, friendships are strong, students feel safe, and an attitude of positivity is constantly cultivated. There are a variety of extra-curricular activities and students are encouraged to be involved. As a college professor, I feel very strongly that Montini is successfully preparing my child for the rigors of college, and she is very much enjoying her high school experience. Senior: IC Catholic Prep is an amazing school. At IC, we offer honors and AP classes, allowing students to test their knowledge. These classes may be rigorous, but it only pushes us to work harder. The teachers at IC are extremely friendly, always having open doors, they are ready to assist any student. Additionally, at IC we are not only active in the classroom, but we are also active outside of the classroom. Whether you are on the field or the stage, there are many ways to get involved. Senior: I was lucky enough to have parents who allowed me to choose where I wanted to go to high school, and after shadowing at Nazareth in seventh grade, I knew it was the school for me. The small, tight knit, family feel impression I received on my shadow day hasn’t changed throughout these past 4 years, and I couldn’t be happier with my high school decision. Senior: I’m a senior in high school at Timothy and I've been a student here since preschool. I absolutely love it here. The community is amazing, it's super easy to make friends and the academics are challenging for those who want it. There is also a great support system if you fall behind that puts you right back on track. The teachers are very nice and understanding, and I often become friends with them throughout the school year. There are plenty of extracurricular activities that are open to all students from athletics, to academic clubs like Scholastic Bowl and Mock Trial. The arts are also a strong suit at Timothy with a concert band, orchestra, choirs, theater, and plenty of art classes. I personally am involved with band, both concert and jazz, scholastic bowl, National Honors Society, cross country, and track. Alum: CPSA is great for high-achieving, self-motivated students. It has a good Islamic curriculum supplemented by teaching Arabic. The secular education is advanced for every grade and subject (with honors/AP courses), and challenges students. There are a good amount of extracurriculars. But most of the teachers and staff focus on the cream of the crop students and leave behind the average/below average students. Also, the school has a very competitive atmosphere, rewarding high achievers and inadvertently putting the other students down, not giving them enough time and importance. Not every student is a straight-A individual who easily scores well on standardized tests. But those who can are put on display, and the rest are not able to reach that level of success, at least not with the school. CPSA isn't for everyone-just for those who can succeed on their own and need limited guidance.
