Alum: I would like for the students to actually care about things other than themselves. I would like faculty to treat you with the respect you give them. I would like faculty to care about student events. I would like for Spanish classes to me dedicated more towards speaking. I would like for students to show that they actually care about passing. I would like a little more leniency with lunch attendance and punishments. I would like ID cards to not be forced down peoples throats. I wish all teachers were as good as the science and math teachers from a teaching standard and personality standard.

Pierson Middle/High School

Alum: The IB program really challenges you. Students who succeed in the Diploma program will really be ready for college. There are AP classes to take as well. I know a lot of people in my graduating class got into top ranked colleges. The school has a strong theater program and competitive sports teams for a small school. Administration does a great job hiring teachers. Sag Harbor has a lot of history and its nice they are finally fixing up the facilities. I feel so much more prepared for college than others here at college, so I think Pierson did a good job getting me ready.

Senior: Although it is quite a small school, Bridgehampton is an environment where all students can excel. There is a student to teacher ratio that allows all students to have great communication with those that teach them various subjects. I do wish there were more clubs available but due to our small size, it's quite understandable why we lack in this area.

Parent: It’s not shiny, but this place has more educational depth & breadth than anything else in the area. After 6 months, there will be at least one (and probably more) teacher(s)/mentor(s) on campus who knows your child really well. This kind of individualized learning is Hayground's forte. And feeling that you are seen is a really nice thing for a child. This is not force-fed, top-down until all the boxes – spelling, history, reading, math, etc – are checked learning. Hayground is about preparing for the world, learning how to ask questions, slowing down for deep discussion, engaging in real projects, learning chemistry while preparing a meal, learning about science in the garden...in short, becoming a complete and curious human being. My children finished at HG one year ago and 4 years ago respectively. We couldn’t have asked for a better foundation as they’ve transitioned into high school. Look beneath the surface.
