Senior: Coral academy of science Las Vegas is the best charter school I have ever seen and experienced. Coral academy prayers students for higher and challenging corses. It gets its students ready and prepared for college. If you would rate this school it will be 9.5 out of 10. There is nothing about the Academic stuff that I would like to change. The school is doing fantastic in the academic. However, I would like them on PE class not to take the students out of campus to go and do their activities at the park across the street. I feel that it’s not safe for students. Second thing is that as you all know the school shoring rate across the United States of America is so haigh. Coral academy fence around the school is law. Junior: The teachers are very supportive. Everyone is ver connected with each other and it truly gives you the chance to live your college and high school experience. There are different majors, currently in the nursing program. I get my CNA when I graduate and about 16 college credits. Every program has something different. Junior: The dual enrollment aspect makes its academics awesome. Students are only required to take 3 high school classes, leaving the rest of the time open to schedule college classes. The HS classes themselves are very unique and unlike any class I've had or expected to have, which is a result of the amazing teachers. However, as a result of dual enrollment, the major focus is on academics, so there are little opportunities outside of it. There is really only 1 HS club in addition to electives, although students may join any CSN clubs, but you can do activities at your zoned school. Because you attend college classes at the same time, it's a great way to get a taste of what college may look like once you graduate while having support from HS resources. Since students are in college, they need to have determination and drive because you are responsible for yourself and there is little parent involvement. Senior: I really enjoyed my time at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts! If I could give half-star ratings, I would give it a 4.5, because though the school is great there are still some drawbacks. The environment is very positive and diversity, but the students can be kind of cliquey between majors. The teachers truly care, and they are always available to help students out. The campus is nice in some places, like the newly renovated Performing Arts Center, but other buildings are very old, and it takes forever for things to get fixed. In the Main Building, the upstairs girls bathroom had a broken sink for over 3 months, and the AC and heating systems in the Vocational Hall break annually. Parent: I attribute much of my daughters success to CSN. They each have been accepted into the healthcare programs of their choice and have made the transition to university out of state seamlessly. With the exception of one teacher, they have enjoyed their HS classes. The college itself has excellent professors and prepared them well for university level work. Also, their high GPAs achieved while at CSN have helped them achieve a higher cumulative GPA at their current university where they must maintain a 3.5 to remain in their respective programs. An important bonus to attending CSN that we never considered. Socially, my daughters were able to make friends easily and their peers were goal oriented like them. Although, clubs/sports are lacking my daughters maintained friendships with their friends at their former HS and had the best of both worlds. Senior: VTCTA is a great magnet high school for students perusing a career in cyber security, law enforcement, forensics, ems, 9-1-1 Dispatch, or criminal justice. The passion that the program teachers have opens windows of opportunity for students that are excited to become part of that field. The internships are great for VT students to engage with the community and start having the hands on experience to what can become a prospective career. The rigorous academic plan that teachers have for the students is with the primary purpose of preparing them for college. In addition to internships the school offers a mentor program. This mentor can be precisely from the student’s intended career or similar which well help the student through the year and create a strong bond. Senior: During my time attending SECTA, showed me the positives and negatives of every school since even a good school can't have everything. When I first arrived, my only thought was, "This school is going to be the best and so am I." I have no doubt their academics can push you with a variety of classes preparing you for college. However, students' life lacks. This deals with how I can be more involved in school, how the administration handles problems, having enjoyable spirit weeks, and many more. Freshman: Southwest CTA is a very good magnet school with a diverse selection of programs! Often times, the teacher are great and easily approachable. The only complaint I have about it is that it has no music or sports. The administration don't think music or sports would help their image as a "professional" school. However, SWCTA also has many great clubs and organizations. For example, I am currently in HOSA and speech & debate. HOSA is well-organized and is a national organization. Junior: I have been going to this school since it first opened up in 2016, at the time I was only ten years old and enrolled in the fifth grade. As of the 2022-2023 school year I am a junior who is enrolled in the dual enrollment program offered by Pinecrest Cadence. If it weren’t for all of the staff members there and the teachers who taught me I wouldn’t have pushed myself as far to get to where I am now. The school pushes students to excel in their studies but keep it fun with a hands on experience. They understand that academics is a huge part in everyone’s lives and focuses on STEM and CTE courses along with performing arts.
