Parent: Right now I have a 5th grader there and a new Kindergartner. Our experience has been overall good. My son has had a couple teachers that I question their abilities to teach well, but has had some excellent teachers that make up for it. The school itself is small for as many students that it has, but I don't think that detracts from the education the students receive. The area around the school is family friendly with only a few concerns, a hotel just down the way from the trails behind the school and the busy roads not too far away. Overall the choice we made to move to this area 10 years ago was a good one. My son loves his school and some of the friends he has made and we are hoping our other kids enjoy their future experiences as well.... Read 7 reviews

Junior: I have had a great experience at Dowling so far. They have so many ways to get involved including many different clubs and groups. Senior: Waukee High School has been a great place for me to grow and learn. The buildings are clean and well taken care of by amazing staff. Almost all of the teachers care very much about their students. Even the lunch ladies all have connections with the students and they treat us amazingly. I have been successful in all of my classes because of my teachers abilities to help me learn and understand everything they give, some teachers are more hardcore and some are more easygoing, but I have has great results with most. There are a select group of teachers that were not the greatest or most helpful but dealing with them became easier as the classes went on. Through the online learning caused by Covid-19 the school was extremely helpful and understanding of students and their needs through a stressful time.
